This just shows how unfair life can be when people who care nothing for there life live and people who have so much to share with society lose everything. My heart goes out to your family, girlfriend, and department who have lost so much. You are an awesome person who in your short time was able to accomplish much more than most people can in a life time. You will and can not be forgotten for the lasting effect you have had on so many people.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Esparza, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

To the Esparza family. Mendi, Mikayla, Colton, and I would like to say how deeply saddened we are at the loss of Andrew. I first met Andrew in the academy when I taught some of his classes and later on in in-service. He was always smiling and full of energy. Andrew was a fine police officer...one to be extremely proud of. The hallways of the Department will be a bit darker without him, but his spirit will live on in all of our memories. He will not be forgotten. Ralph, your little brother was proud to have followed in your footsteps. He was a model for other officers to follow. Rest peacefully, Andrew. God will take care of you now as we will take care of your family.

With heartfelt sorrow,

Officer Stephen W. Burres, III #839

Rest in Peace, Brother.

OFC B. GRAJEK

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Officer Esparza and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Officer Esparza has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Officer Esparza, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Officer Esparza is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

When I learned of Officer Esparza's accident, I prayed, my family prayed. We prayed for Andrew to pull through. We prayed for his family, for God to comfort them. We prayed for his fellow officers, for God to strengthen them and bring them closer during this time of sorrow.

This morning I heard the song:

When the shadows of this life have gone,
I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison bars has flown,
I'll fly away

I'll fly away
Oh Glory
I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah by and by,
I'll fly away.

God Speed, Andrew, God speed.
