Reflections for Police Officer Andrew Esparza

To my cousin Ralph, his family and to the fellow police officers of Andrew Esparza:
I am deeply saddened by your lost. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with you. Take solace in the fact that many men live an entire lifetime, grow old and die wondering whether or not they make a difference to our world. Police officers do not have this problem. Officer Andrew Esparza has made a difference in all our lives and to his community.
May he rest in peace. Semper Fi.

As a dispatcher that worked with Andrew (JR or KIDDO to me), I have been blessed by God to have known Andrew. He was never without a smile, always happy to be at work and doing what he loved. I am proud to have called him my friend. Andrew did his observation time in dispatch with me and I have never seen such passion for law enforcement as I saw in his eyes. Even though he had only been with our family for 2 years he made a huge impact.

Thank you Esparza family for sharing him with us.

Andrew, I love you and will miss you terribly.

Officer Andrew Esparza, on the 10th of April we were on a call together for about 4 hours “Shots Fired”. Andrew was so excited because it was his first call out as a tactical officer. He was full of energy with all his tactical gear on. I asked Andrew Esparza, where’s your brother Ralph (also a Tactical Officer)? I could see your eyes light up and point to the side of building and say “he’s at the wall covering the window”. It was a pleasure and an honor to be along side with Andrew Esparza.

I have been with the Irving Police Department for many years and have trained many young officers. I can say without a doubt Andrew was a rising and shining star. Andrew was a quiet, but confident young officer who was not only professional with the citizenry of Irving, but also when dealing with suspects. As a former FTO I only wish I could have had the honor of helping to train Andrew, but the numerous times I was able to give him advice I just knew he would go to the top in our department. Andrew we will miss you so much and you will never be forgotten. You are in a better place and I know you will look down on us from time to time. You will always be 10-8 to us and don't worry we will take care of Ralph. We love you buddy!

Andrew, you were a bright star for the City of Irving. Too soon, you have left this earth, but you will not be forgotton. You served the citizens of Irving with Pride and Dignity. I know the closeness of you and your family. My thoughts and prayers go out to your friends and family. May God comfort you in your time of need. Ralph, I'm sorry for your loss, I know how special Andrew was in your life and I know how much this hurts. It seems like only yesterday that you switched shifts so that you could be with your "little brother." Well, your "little brother" is now, and will always be with you wherever you go. If you need anything, know that I'm here for you. Rest In Peace Andrew, you will be missed.

Romans 8-26-30
26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
