Lil Drew, as I would call you...It was great working next to you. We had a lot of fun times while going to calls together. 51 beat will never be the same without you but we will doing everything we can to be as good as you were. Your last week here I had a chance to talk to you a lot about work, apartments, your truck, and your parents. You were very happy with where you were in your life. I will never forget the ultimate sacrifice you made for me that night. I know you had my back, and now I have got yours. I'll see you again one day. I love you!

Andy, you are truly missed. It is hard to believe you left us 1 month ago today. Please watch over Kenli as we continue to pray, support & love her through her loss. You were her rock; she loves & misses you so much. Thank you for being such a amazing person who has made an impact on so many lives. Your love and respect for people, as well as your devotion to Christ, has been a reminder to many of us about the true meaning of life. I am so honored to have known you. Rest in peace Andy. Thought about you today, like most days. Garza brought a prisoner in, we were joking and your name came up. I wanted to tell him how special you were, what kind of Officer and man you were. But all that came were the tears. Tears that burned my very soul. I want him to know, I want them all to know what an excellent Officer you were. You re-affirm my belief in honor and integrity, in pride, and truth. Every time you came to Jail, even when you did your 4 hours as a “rookie” you treated us with dignity and respect, never like second class citizens. From that 1st day I knew you were a CUT above the rest. Every time you came in or called you were kind and cheery. You could bring in the nasty, smelliest, prisoner, and make it a “joyful” experience.  I miss you. Look in on us from time to time. We will look after Ralph. Thank you.

Andy,
I still don't know what to say, I still don't believe you are gone...I wish I could have done something, I wish I could change things; but I know you would not stand for that...
We are doing our best to keep going down here...I still look for you when I leave the house, expecting to pass you as you are directing traffic at the school or just coming home, but you aren't there...
We are and will continue to take care of Kenli; that was always your job and I never worried about her; now we are telling you that your job is done and we will take care of her from here...
I am thankful for the last year that we got to spend so close to you up here...I am glad for the friendship that you and Dion developed...I am thankful for the relationship that you had with Kara...You were an uncle to her for so long, I wish Jackson had gotten to know you like that...I remember you told me you wanted to "hold that little guy" on Easter...Thank you for loving the kids like you did...And you will be glad to know Kara still has the "Krusty Krab" that you two worked so hard on...
I don't know what it was about you that made me laugh and smile everytime I saw you...For some reason, I always found that you and I laughed at the same things...
We miss you so much Andy and nothing I say will reflect the feelings in our hearts for you...
Please watch over us from up there, and keep us safe as we continue to do our share of the work down here...
Know that you will never be forgotten and will never be replaced...

We love you , Andy...

--"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Police Officer Andrew Esparza,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Andrew Esparza, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--"Your life is more important than you can imagine."-- Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".
