Officer Pitt,
I shall say that even though I only knew you for a short time of period it was a pleasure meeting you and working with such beautiful person like you. God only knows why things like this happens to good people. Sometimes I wish Im going to wake up and realize that all this is just a nightmare. Therefore; I want to conclude by saying I apologies when you see me cry, but I sure miss you. Sleep peacefully with God.

May god protect and lift up those who you cared about and who cared about you we need it, I know I do.

Wayne, it was a great pleasure to work with you, and learn different styles of policing from you. You have, without doubt, served without sacrifice and I pray after 25 years that I will have the same drive that you did. I can say it does make it a little easier knowing that you and Sgt. Burke are patrolling the Golden Streets together and keeping an eye on all of us from above. Rest easy.

I am the coordinator of the Sacred Heart Dinner Program. Officer Pitt had been a friend of the program and the city's hypothermia program. While other officials have often treated the clients like a drain on resources, Officer Pitt treated them as citizens and tried to do right by them. Protect and serve. Thank you, Officer Pitt.

Thank you for your service. A hero in life not in death. God speed and rest easy.

Officer Pitt,

I met you about 6 months ago, you handled a serious hit and run accident involving a family member of mine. We talked for a couple hours about police work, and I had great admiration for your past experiences. I remember asking you why you were still doing this job after working in all types of units in NC including the homicide unit....you just told me you still had the love for the job. You are an idol! I think all the brothers in blue, including myself could only wish to be a fraction the police officer you were.

God Speed! My prayers are with your family.
