Reflections for Police Officer Robert Winget

May God bless and keep you as well as watch over your family. Rest in peace...

To the Winget Family,

I had the honor and privilege to work with Bob during his last years on LAPD. We had fun teaching on the "travelling tactics team" for Sergeant Frank Mika.

I received a call from our Employees Assistance Unit asking if I could attend a funeral for a former LAPD officer that retired in '92 and moved up to the Modesto area. I prayed the name would not be a familiar one...

When they confirmed it was indeed Bob Winget, my heart sank.

My sincerest condolences on the loss of Bob. I know I will never forget him!

Respectfully and sincerely,
Tere Akune, Sergeant
LAPD Pacific Division

PS-Don't worry about Bob...he is in GREAT company! God bless you, your family and the Ripon Police Department.

when I heard the tragic news ,I tried to remember if this was the same Officer Winget that taught traffic invs.at LAPD academy when I attended.but then i realized something else- the names always sound the same ,becuase the names of the ones we lose are always the same, and each time we lose a Brother or sister officer,it makes the world that much emptier and lonely.Try not to grieve painfully for this officer- he left us doing what he did best and I'm sure he was proud to be in uniform and "out there" looking out for us all...
