Barry is my brother and always will be!! He will never know how much I loved and admired him for all he has done in his life. I only wish I had spent more time with him! To often in life we don't tell the one's we love, how we feel about them. Barry and I were always competing in sports, playing tennis, ping pong,or golf. We had so many good times playing basketball in the drive way of his house, with all the neighborhood kid's.Barry worked hard to get were he was in life. He always knew he wanted to be, an F.B.I. agent, and gave his all to get there!! He was living his dream, and would have been no other place then in the line of fire to help his fellow agents. We all knew he had your back if you needed help. I will my brother so much!! He was the one you went to if you had a problem. He would always try to help in anyway he could!! I will miss you Barry, I only hope you know how much I love you!! Dave

At 8 PM on the Saturday following 9/11/01 the Pittsburgh Symphony opened with our national anthem, followed by music which communicated all of the emotion words simply cannot express.

May the Bush family, the agent who accidentally fired his weapon, and the entire FBI community find strength in prayer and compositions which provide some comfort at this tragic time.

May God bless Agent Bush, his family and the FBI family with his everlasting life.

Police Officers Prayer

Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe.

Watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers.

Father in Heaven please give them the strength, courage and perseverance to endure

The unjust condemnation, danger, and physical abuse to which they are at times subjected.

We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous.

Dear God, grant these brave men your almighty protection,

Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended.

Karen,
I am so sorry. Barry will always be a part of my memories. From high school and my 16th birthday party, to the Pottstown Police Department, to the last time I saw him at the funeral for another great officer, Greg Boyle, when Barry was kind enough to walk into the viewing with me because I was by myself. You and the kids are in my thoughts and prayers.

--"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Special Agent Barry Lee Bush,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Special Agent Barry Lee Bush, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--"Your life is more important than you can imagine."-- Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

"Angels In Blue"
I had this friend you see, who loved
God, Country, You and me.
My friend went to work day or night
the peace to keep, so you and I could sleep.
He worked the holidays and weekends,
away from family and friends.
To keep this peace for you and me.
Each day this friend put his life on the line
to spare yours and mine.
Then one day he paid the price, he gave his life.
You've done well my friend, patrolling these earthly streets.
Now it's time to walk on Heaven's beat.
The next time you see a Police Officer or two,
remember they are one of God's Angels in Blue.
And God said; "Blessed are the Peace Makers."
By Lieutenant Stanley Hascher

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. You will not be forgotten.

Godspeed

Deeply sorrowful, I leave a reflection about another brave soldier killed in pursuit of justice to protect the citizens of the U.S.. I hope the community will show appreciation for the sacrifice Special Agent Bush has made. To the citizens in this community, I ask that you do your civic duty and punish these criminals for their crimes which led to the death of this decent husband and father. With swift justice, sentence these criminals to the most severe penalty. S.A. Bush, may the memory of your heroism, service and sacrifice remain forever. May God bless you, your family and fellow officers in the F.B.I.

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, St Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men. Amen.
Barry, I will never forget you. Karen, Steve, Jen, I will always be there for you...always.

Karen, Jen, and Steven- You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we send you much love. The service was absolutely beautiful and touching. I was absolutely moved by the love and friendship displayed for Barry, especially those who spoke that day. Something good needs to come out of this, until then broken hearts will keep asking why.
Barry - You will be missed, but not forgotten ever. We all love you. Rest in peace.

dear mrs. bush and family,

my deepest sympathies to you in your loss. life certainly doesn't make sense sometimes, but you must know in your heart that, regardless of the details, he gave his life doing what he loved. when my husband was killed in the line of duty nearly a year ago, other than my spiritual beliefs, that was my biggest reassurance - that his work was truly a calling to which he committed ALL of himself every single day, without fear, without hesitation, always ready to serve, always trying to catch the bad guys and looking out for the good ones. our lives have been changed forever, but we can truly be proud of our 'heroes' and for the impact they made in the lives of so many. find comfort in knowing that police officers and their families all over the country are praying for you - i was amazed at the support and encouragement i received from so many, and i'm sure that you are experiencing the same. God's grace and peace to you.

Brother Bush and loved Ones....

I have lived through the loss of two co-workers in the last two years. One who died fighting the fight and lost almost the same way as you. The other, my freind and partner. No one understands why we do this and some don't care, still we continue on. Your work is done here. You are called now to a better place where there is no pain. God bless the family and love ones left here to continue the work. Although I never knew you, I am proud of what you were...

God bless

Barry
From the time I was a young boy, as a teen, and now as an adult you where the person that I looked up to the most. I admired your relentless determination in everything that you did, your passion for competition and especially your loyalty and commitment to our country. Looking back now I have realized that your chosen path in law enforcement should have been mine as well. This has been my only regret in my life.

There are no words to describe the pride that have for you and what you have given your life to protect. It is this pride that allows me to function in these days following your loss and will continue for the remainder of my life…The HERO we have lost, Heaven has gained.

We will all miss you!

On April 5, 2007, I would never have imagined meeting you, Karen, Jen, and Steven and to simply lend a hand and a shoulder. It was Holy Thursday, a day that Jesus ate his last Supper with friends and washed the feet of his humble servants, his apostles. Even though He was God, Jesus taught us to be humble and go out and serve by leading by example. The story of Barry shall remain with me. He indeed was a leader who lead by example and the service of others. You three have also been great examples to me as well. I thank you from the depths of my soul and pray "God hold you in the palm of his hand!" Always and fondly, your hand holder!
