Corey,
You are a true reflection of "only the good die young" and it is so surreal right now that you are no longer here. May you sit on the right side of God and may your family and friends relish in your memories.
I will miss you very much!

Lieutenant Dahlem,
You worked hard to put yourself in a position to teach and motivate young officers. Your dedication, passion, and memory will live on with all of those officers. Those officers will pass that on to future officers. You will never be forgotten.

Rest easy Lieu

My deepest condolences to the Dahlem family and friends as well as the Gainesville Police Department.

I met Lt. Dahlem when he was working in Personnel, and I remember him as always being very friendly and helpful, and I still fondly remember the story about his nickname "Spoon" and his children's nicknames.

I also remember Scott Baird, another GPD officer needlessly and senselessly killed, and two officers where I live in Charlotte who were murdered over the weekend.

They will all be missed.

I will always have the utmost appreciation and respect for the brave men and women who risk their lives daily to keep our society safe.

Rest in peace LT.

I never met Corey, but, by the impact this man has made on his fellow officers, including my best friend, he was a one of a kind. People in any walk of life strive for that person whom they can look up to and say; " Now..there's the benchmark that we should all try to attain". Corey was, and will always be, that benchmark.

I have been around long enoguh to see officers in near by cities or in my city alone die in the line of duty. However, when you see Lt. Corey Dahlem that night of the game on the street and then wake up to see his picture all over the news it really hits you. I did not know the officer personally but anytime a LEO dies in the line of duty he deserves the upright most respect. RIP again, I will be there monday for his funeral.

It saddens me to again be writing yet another reflection on this website; but it seems that God must be in need of some very good Officers, as he has taken some of our finest.
My heart and my prayers go out to your family as you leave them and begin serving a higher "Chief."

I want you to know that you were always a pleasure to work with, soft spoken, kind and always appreciative when you were in need of assistance. Your family will always have those attributes of yours to reflect on and your children will carry with them those traits that were so much a part of you; your legacy will live on!

May God bless your wife and children, may He keep you near to them during their time of need. May He give them the strength to pick up the pieces and continue on with their lives. May they always be blessed and may they take solace in knowing what a wonderful man Lt. Corey Dahlem was and will continue to be...only the beat changes.

I am the brother-in-law of Gainesville Police Department's Sgt. James Jendzio who passed away from Cancer in 2005.

I flew down from Chicago for Jim's services and Lt. Corey Dahlem was assigned to drive myself and both my parents to the funeral, and the buffet at the police lodge afterwards. Lt. Dahlem had been on duty the entire night before, and should have been put to bed, but he refused to miss the funeral of his friend and brother officer Jim. Instead he volunteered to drive us around everywhere.

Lt. Corey Dahlem was extremely kind, caring and helpful to all of us who were grieving Jim's passing. He constantly stood by us and looked after us in every way possible. I was always proud of Jim Jendzio but by the time I left for home I was also proud of the entire Gainesville Police department.

Today my family grieves for Lt. Corey Dahlem and our prayers and hopes go out to his family. God bless Lieutenant Corey Dahlem. Somehow, somewhere he is with Sgt. James Jendzio in blue on eternal patrol.

Lt. Dahlem, it saddens me to know that another peace officer's life has been abruptly taken by an act of sheer stupidity and lawlessness. Thank you sir for your many years of service and your ultimate sacrifice. You are a hero who will not be forgotten. To the two officers who apprehended your murderer, you have my deepest gratitude. My prayers and condolences go out to all of the Dahlem family and to all the family at GPD.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents & our comfort is the reassurance that He will judge the guilty.
