To Officer Shelton's wife, family,friends and co-workers,
Today my heart hurts for you..only those who have walked this road before you,can feel the shock, void and numbness you are going through. May God wrap His arms around you and give you the peace only He can. Two more Hero's called to their final home, and we still ask why? So young, so brave, so forever in our hearts. Jeff, I salute you Sir for your ultimate sacrifice, you will not be forgotten.
Family and Friends, please know that you are in my prayers today, tomorrow and the days that lay ahead. On the 4th of this month 2004, my son-in-law Sgt.Jeffrey Hewitt, also lost his life while serving domestic papers. I do not have the words of sympathy that will ease your hurting, except that I will be praying for each of you. May it somehow give you comfort in knowing that others really do care.
Jeff, take your rest in the Arms of God, and keep watch over your loved ones, and your brother's and sister's in blue...I salute you Sir.
With love and prayers,

"WHAT IS A HERO?"

ONE WHO NEVER HESITATES TO TACKLE THE MOST DIFFICULT PROBLEMS...

ONE WHO IS ALWAYS BY YOUR SIDE...

ONE WHO KNOWS RIGHT FROM WRONG...

ONE WHO ACTS WITH PRIDE...

A HERO TOUCHES EVERY ONE OF US, WHETHER IT BE WORD OR DEED...

ALWAYS TENDING TO THOSE WHO FIND THEMSELVES IN NEED...

WHEN A HERO LEAVES THIS EARTH, YES, IT'S SAD BUT TRUE..

ALL TOO MANY TIMES, THE HERO IS DRESSED IN BLUE.
(WRITTEN BY ERIC DERENZIS)

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of another loss in North Carolina. So far, in the first few months of the year, we now lead the Nation in line-of-duty deaths. I pray there won't be anymore, it just has to stop! There is too much pain and heartache for so many people. My prayers are with your family and agency; God will comfort them and carry them through this difficult time. Thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice. God rest you, Sir.

These two are very hard to take. We just lost one of our own. The only thing that MAY help get through this is that when a police officer dies in the line of duty, we know that they were doing what they were happy doing. That is being a POLICE OFFICER. In time we may heal, but we will never forget!
