God bless the family of Officer Shelton. Being an Officer means being a member of a huge family that stretches from one end of the United States to the other. We all mourn our brothers and sisters when something this horrible happens. To the family: Your are not alone! We pray for you and we love you! Michael Gloyd

Officer Jeff, I am leaving a second reflection for both you and officer Sean. Thanks to one of your friends and fellow officers, I was able, via live stream, to watch both services. It gives my heart much joy to know that I will see both you and Officer Sean one day in heaven with our Lord Jesus. You have run the race, and finished. Jesus promised, "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life", Rev. 2:10. I look forward to seeing the smile everyone has been talking about. Again, to all of CMPD and the Shelton family, may God watch over all of you at this time. You are loved and prayed for.

I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the families of both of these Officers. I am deeply saddened to see the pain in the faces of those loved ones that were left behind, especially the little boy Braeden. May God Bless these Heroes and all of their families. Know that you are all in our hearts and prayers. Nothing will ever replace the loss that you have all suffered but time and only time will ease the pain. I pray for all of you and know that these two fine Officers will forever watch over their loved ones.

May they both Rest in Peace.

I felt compelled to visit Jeff's site today and after reading recent reflections left for him, I think I understand why I was drawn to revisit it. Several of the reflections have mentioned that Jeff was a Marine and how the qualities he developed in service to his country served him well in his law enforcement career. Once a Marine, Always a Marine and one cannot serve in the Corps without always being proud of that service and that brotherhood.

My son Larry was Jeff's brother in green as well as in blue and I know Larry greeted Jeff with a "Well done, Marine"
You and Sean are true American heroes.

Semper Fi, Jeff and rest in peace.

GOD be with you Jennifer Shelton and to the parents of and all that loved and knew Officer Shelton. Godspeed Officer Shelton, long may your honour live

"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

The Bailey Family give our condolence, I lost my son May 3,1999 lost my husband May 31,2001 I know that there is not any word that can be say that would take away the pain so what I send as a wife that lost her husband in the line of his duty to this USA is a time of silence, as a mother that lost her son to street violence I send a time of silence. GOD BLESS in your time of need. THE LATE SGT JAMES R. BAILEY FAMILY

I can tell you that officer Jeff Shelton went above and beyond his call and duty. One day several years ago my girls school bus was extremely late. They were standing on the corner waiting for over an hour. He stopped and asked the girls why weren't they at school they explained that the bus was late and were afraid to walk because of the areas they would have to go through, Well he told the girls that he would take them and would explain to school that they weren't in trouble that he was just bringing them to school. I can tell you that he had girls ask there grandmom if it was ok because he didn't want her to think that they were in any trouble. I think all of CMPD and God bless you all in this time of grief.
