Reflections for Police Officer Sean Robert Clark

Sir, thank you for your sacrifice. Please look after your fellow brothers in blue, they need you now. My heart hurts for your family. To your unborn child, your father was a hero in the truest sense. You are in my prayers.

I knew Sean and his family more than 30 years ago. I remember playing with Sean in the community of West Charlotte and at Paw Creek Christian Academy. I remember him as a really nice kid - along with his brother Scotty and sister Kimberly. I am so very sorry for this loss. We are praying for Sean's family and friends.

God bless...

I worked with Sean Clarke in 1997 and 1998. He was a good friend and co-worker. When I heard the news my heart stopped. Sean was a wonderful person, and now is in a better place...but he will never be forgotten. My heart aches for his family. Know that Sean meant a lot to many people and the sadness felt now is for a life ended to early.

words cannot express what you feel at a time like this. To the family of Officer Clarke, we offer our encouragement and prayers for strength to endure this time of heartache and loss. I am like so many who didnt know this fine officer personally, but working in the EMS field, we work closely with the many wonderful officers of CMPD and law enforcement all around. When something like this happens, it tears at your heart just the same as it affects all of us in the EMS, fire and police family. To the officers of CMPD, I offer my prayers of support and strength as well as we know this is also hard for you guys when you go to work each day and this friend and co-worker isnt on patrol with you guys. but know that he is watching from above and will always be here in our hearts and will ever keep watch from above.

My family's thoughts and prayers go out to both families and friends of my fallen brothers. It's an honor to wear the same uniform as the two brothers I have served beside. You will never be forgotten but always remebered. Your service, bravery and dedication to this country and the community of Charlotte will never be forgotten. This devastating night will only make our family (CMPD) stronger in the fight against the domestic terroist of Charlotte. We will not let you down. You will be every officers "back up", fighting alone side of us, on every call, in every city, throughout this country.

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Officer Clarke's wife, family, friends and co-workers. I was married to Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002 and I am now married to Washington County Deputy Sheriff Aaron Carpenter. All of your COPS family is here for you and hurting for you. We all became a family when our loved ones became police officers and now we have even a stronger bond when one of our family members go down. We are here for you to help you along this journey you now have joined with us. God bless you all.

I will not go out quietly

There is another temptation for us as both police officers and citizens alike to throw our hands up in the air and say ‘I give up” The courts are not convicting the bad guys, the prisons are not keeping them in there, we make an arrest and they just turn around and let them out as fast as we put them in there. Why do we even bother at all?

Who is it that we work for? Your sergeant? The Chief? The Charlotte City Council? The President of the United States? Or is it that we work for our neighbors, and the helpless, the citizens, the ones who abide by the law. How about the murderers, thugs, dopers, thieves, and scum of society? I would argue that we work for all of the above, however we have left out the most important Person of all. Our authority, power, and right comes from God Himself. We work for The Most High. We are agents of God, because God says He is the One who puts kings into power. The civil authority is an extension of God’s Hand. Guess what? God is also our backup, He is there all the time. He was there the night He called Sean and Jeff home, that was His call. We bother to do the very best that we can, not only because it is the right thing to do, but because God demands it and He is our Boss
We bother because we are the equalizer, when the bully grabs the small kid and tries to take his lunch money. We are the ones that knock him across the hall and onto the floor, and then handcuff him and take him to jail. We bother because we were called to this profession. This is not a job, it is a calling. We bother because, there are two dead boys lying out there in a parking lot, and their children will not grow up knowing their father. We bother because Shawn and Jeff bothered enough to give all they had to give, their very lives. As God as my witness, I promise to every single one of you to “be bothered” by what is going on in our community. I will not go out quietly! I will fight and stretch, and speak out, and work until there is not a breath in my body. I will not go out quietly! I will fight for what is right and good until I have no strength left in my body. I will not go out quietly! I am the last line of defense, for the weak, the children, the poor, the victims, and guess what? I will not go out quietly! I work for the Sergeant, the Captain, the Major, the Deputy Chief, the Chief, the Citizens…and God Himself, AND I WILL NOT GO OUT QUIETLY!!
Sean & Jeff you will never be forgotton, all of your brothers and sisters will never "GO OUT QUIETLY"!

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Clarke, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
