GOD be with you Sherry Clark and Braydon

"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

My deepest & most heartfelt sympathies go out to the Clarke family. I remember Sean & Kimberly from days long ago back at PCCA - what times we had. Please know you are all in our prayers and thoughts. May God continue to keep His hand upon you in the days and weeks ahead, and bless you for your sacrifice. I know heaven became a little sweeter when Jesus welcomed Sean home.

Goodnight, my friend, we will see you again one day soon.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Dept. and the families of the fallen Officers. The following letter was sent to me by a friend before this tragic accident because my son-in law and daughter are both with Matthews and Charlotte departments.
What Is A Policeman Made Of?
Paul Harvey in one of his columns asked the question, "What are Policemen made of?" A policeman is a composite of what all men are. A mingling of saint and sinner, dust and deity. Cold statistics focus on the stinkers--Underscore instances of dishonesty and brutality because they are news. What that really means is that they are exceptional; they are unusual; they're not commonplace. Buries under the froth is the fact: less than half of one percent of policemen misfit that uniform. That is a better average than you would find among clergymen.
"What is a policeman made of?" Paul Harvey asks. He of all men is at once the most needed and the most unwanted. He is a strangely nameless creature who is "sir" to his face and"fuzz" behind his back. He must be such a diplomat that he can settle differences between individuals so that each will think he won. But if he hurries, he is caleless; if he is deliberate, he is lazy. He must be first into an accident and infallible with a diagnosis. He must be able to start breathing, stop bleeding, tie splints, and above all, be sure the victim goes home without a limp or expect to be sued.
The police officer must know every gun draw on the run, and hit where it doesn't hurt. He must be able to whip two men twice his size, half his age, without damaging the bully. A policeman must know everything and not tell. He must know where all the sin is, but not partake. A policeman must, from a single human hair, be able to describe the crime, the weapon, and the criminal, if he is lucky; if he doesn't he is a dullard. Dunce. If he gets promoted, he has political pull; if he doesn't, he is a dullard.
The policeman must chase bum leads to a dead end, stake out 10 nights to tag one witness who saw it happen, but refuses to remember. He runs files and writes reports until his eyes ache and builds a case against some fella who will get dealt out by a shameless shamist or an honorable judge who isn't.
A policeman must be a minister, a social worker, a diplomat, a tough guy and a gentlemen. And of couse, he'll have to be a genius, for he'll have to feed the family on a policeman's salary!!!!!!!

God Bless all of you that protect us every day. My sincere thanks and sympathy for your loss. Jane Thomas
