My heart goes out to the families of these two fine officers. I was involved in an incident four years ago when a subject attacked me and beat me severely for approximately six to seven minutes. Unfortunately I had to shoot and kill the subject to safe my life. I thank God every day for saving me and make it a personal decision to always write to the loved ones and family members of officers killed in the line of duty in our country. This is a very difficult time for all persons involved and only your faith and trust in God will see you through this time of sorrow.
Us as officers need to tell our families every day how much we love them as we never know what the future holds.

We sometimes question God in these times "Why him? Why in this manner?" In all things we must realize that God is still in control. Being a former Moncks Corner Policer officer (1995-1998) this hit like a ton of bricks. I pray that Officer Wells life that he lived will overshadow his death. We must uplift his family, friends, fellow officers, surrounding agencies, and each other. God bless and let us live our lives so that we can see him again.

I never knew you, but I consider all law enforcement as family. Your life was taken doing what you were trained to do, and you did a good job at it. So rest in peace now, your memory will live forever.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name,
in life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories, your love
is still our guide, and though we cannot
see you , you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the Chain will link again.

He will protect us from above
