For the first few months after Danny was hired by the department, I only met him in passing a few times and really did not have a chance to talk to or get to know him. The first time that I called him to relieve me at the information desk after he was released to work on his own was the first time that I really got a chance to talk to him for any amount of time. I remember thinking to myself after our brief conversation, "This is a good man, and a good officer." I really wish there had been more time to get to know him. There are no words to express the deep sadness, that I have felt all week as I have thought about this tragic loss. So many people have been and will be affected by this for the rest of their lives. To his family and friends all I can say is that I am truly sorry for the pain that you are feeling, and I pray that God will comfort you in your time of need. To my fellow officers, keep fighting the good fight. I know that is what Danny would want. To Danny, you my brother are missed. I believe that God has a special position in heaven for a courageous servant such as you. I hope that position is to watch over your brothers and sisters in blue and to help guide us and protect us, because I know that with your vigilance, you are just the man for the job.

On March 23 your life was taken from us. Not only did we loose a good officer but we also lost a good friend. Even though I only met you a few times I could tell that you were an outstanding officer. I'll never forget you and that cold day that we tried out for the Fort Smith Police Department together. You have touched many lifes and you will not be forgotten. My family and i will keep you and your family in our prayers. May God Bless you and your family.

Forever Young

Trapped in the glorious years
within the memory of belief, lost of all grief.
Take the reasons,
which once seemed so clear,
but never mind, you have nothing to fear.
For you my friend will be, forever young,
Forever in the heart of memories.

Lost in the glory of all time,
the wisdom was there within that smile,
You see you could have told us,
there within lies the mystery.

So shed a smile, and grin a tear,
For you my friend, will be,
Forever young, Forever young.
Forever in the heart of memory,
We see not through our misery.
Forever young, forever young.
There's a new angel tonight.

I am sorry to say that I did not know Danny well. After reading all of the reflections on this page from those who knew him I find myself wishing I would have taken the time to get to know him better. I remember one of the first times Danny came to the radio room; He was enduring all the "get to know you questions" from the dispatchers in the room and one of the dispatchers asked how many kids he had. Danny said "five" and then grinned this wonderful, playful, proud grin. That grin spoke volumes about what type of man he was and I remember thinking "he's a good guy". After reading all the reflections left for him and his family on these pages I can tell that my first impression of him was right on. A man's worth is proven more by the love he shares while on earth than by any material means. In Danny's case he has proven to be priceless!

To Danny's Family:
Words could never express how sorry I am for your loss. He shared his love for his fellow man by serving our community and made the ultimate sacrifice. His love will not be forgotten and will live on in the members of the police department who will serve in his memory. May God's healing hands be upon you now and through the hard times to come.

Danny thank you for always being there when we needed you. You always came through when I asked for your help. Your work with the Drug Task Force was wonderful. I never went on raids with someone that was so friendly. I can never remember a time seeing you mad, I think we can all learn from you. Your sense of humor always kept us laughing. You will be truly missed by all of the Officers in LeFlore County each one of us has a special place in our hearts for you. We all love you. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. You just keep looking over us when we are out doing our work.
