Mark, you were my academy classmate and partner and I will never forget you my friend. I was sitting here just thinking about the times we were DT partners at the police academy and when we worked CBD as young officers. I even remember some conversations we had about women back in the day....:). Good memories. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years since you left us. We will keep your mom and family in our prayers. We still holding it down in Dallas.

In the past when I have opened this page the only thing I could think about was how much I missed you. I would see the comments of others and could see that you were loved by many but today as I read some of the comments I started to really see that the man you became was much better than I could have hoped for. I saw you giving encouragement to others, loving and giving of yourself to your friends and co-workers. You always had a big heart and I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to be a part of who you are. Some day we will see each other again.
Love you

It has been nine years, and yet sometimes it feels like yesterday. I am wishing that I could give you hug right now.

Wow. I can't believe time has gone by so fast! I remember my eighth grade year and when we got the news. I was definitely shocked and devastated as were my classmates. I would like to send my regards to your family at this time of yet another anniversary of your passing! You were such a great guy and officer! Although I do remember you got on to my friends and I for being loud in the hall haha good times. You will never be forgotten! Rest easy, sir!

P.S. Your heroism has inspired me to follow in your footsteps. Thank you for giving it all.

The kids and I still miss you. You were always such a good friend and your kind words gave us strength to get through bad times even after you were gone. You used to joke that my kids would end up like you if they kept reading books instead of watching tv. That would make me proud. Thank you for being a friend to our family.

Mark,
Someone recently asked me who will I be bike riding for during the Police Unity Tour in May 2015. Your name immediately came to my mind without hesitation. Regretfully, I didn't know you that well but I knew of you. You have not been forgotten brother! So put on your bike shorts and jump on my back because WE are going to ride over 230 miles in 3 days.

Mark you are always on my mind. I never forget the first time I saw you. You were standing under the sallyport and I could tell you were a new recruit. I am glad that I got to know you and ride as partners. I know you are taking care of the boys in blue and looking over the ones who were closest to you.

Son, There are still times when I can hardly bear the thought that I can not call you and talk, or visit and see your face. I know you are in heaven and Praising your Lord and Savior and I would not wish you back to this world of evil but I do miss you.

Hi Mark,

I had a slow day at work today and was trying to look you up, and then to find out you passed away. I'm in shock. This is so sad and so tragic. Sorry for not keeping in touch much longer after you moved back to Texas. I still remember the time we had classes and worked together at UIC. Thanks for being a good friend. Rest in peace my friend.

I had the fortunate opportunity to meet your Dad at the COPS Parents Retreat this past weekend, a wonderful man. Know that he is keeping your memory alive through his love for you and all the cherished memories that he carries in his broken heart. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones and wrap your wings around them to protect them and assist with their grief. You have not been forgotten.

I was eating lunch with a uniformed officer today when we were advised that our lunch had been paid for. Sr. Cpl. Nix mother left her Concerns of Police Survivors card for the server to deliver to us.
I did not know Sr. Cpl Nix but I appreciate his sacrifice and that of his family. We are all family.
Thank you Ms. Nix for lunch. We do appreciate you and what you have been through

It is just as horrific today despite the years it will never change. I wished I had the honor to meet Mark, he was no stranger to danger and God's wrath on the shooter will be full justice. Till we meet our children again one day... love you.

Here it is, five years since you closed your eyes on earth and opened them in heaven. I have no words that can express how much you are missed every day. James is also gone to heaven now, I know you are both dancing with the angels and I would not ask you to return to the trial of this earth but you sure are missed.
I love you Son
