my prayers go out to the fiancee, family and friends of corporal nix. though words are never enough and i can't know exactly how you are feeling, i remember the first few months after my husband's death and i know that, at times, it seems more than you can handle. know that you are being remembered by officers and their families all over the country, and that his service to the dpd and to the citizens of the city of dallas will never be forgotten. you have much to be proud of, and though your lives have been changed forever, you will one day pick up the pieces and continue on just as he would want you to do. :o)

sincerely,

The death of a police officer reverberates throughout the community. In this case, it's the death of a neighbor's nephew, Senior Corporal Mark Timothy Nix, that has reached across the country. We're neighbors of the Colorado Uncle of Mark Nix. We've seen how Mark's death has affected the entire family and it has made us extremely sad as well. There's no way to alleviate the pain of Mark's unnecessary death. But, somehow, it's helpful to know that he was in pursuit of a known murder suspect. Our Colorado thoughts are with the entire Nix family in these times of extreme sorrow. - SW

No words can ever assuage the grief that follows in the wake of your loss. The greatest testament to your life is that so many people who have been touched by you will always carry your flame within their hearts for the rest of their lives. Thank you for your strength and courage and I pray that it helps sustain all of those who loved you. Peace be with you and the loved ones that you leave behind here in life, you will never be forgotten.

Although I am not a police officer, I have many friends who are. It greatly saddens me to see an officer fall for any reason. It angers me when one such as Mark was gunned down in cold blood. All of my thoughtsn prayers, and sympathies go out to his family, and his fiance. May GOD rest his soul. Many will miss you Mark. I wish I had known you.

I remember meeting Mark, perhaps I taught him Spanish. My heart goes out to his family. It is little consolation to the family that has lost so much or to Mark who no longer has the opportunity to live his life in joy and happiness, yet were it not for selfless people such as Mark the world would be a hard, bitter place. No one becomes an officer for the money and we all know the dangers involved, yet still Mark laid his life down in protection of the citizens of Dallas. We love you, son.
