Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Patrol Officer Jackie Davis Ryden

Jackie was a great man. I miss him dearly. There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of Jackie. He was a very close friend of mine as he called me and we talked only two hours before he died. I am so glad that we talked as we had some good laughs and talked about some good times.
To Lori and Jackies family, He was the best.

To the wife children, grandchildren, and colleagues, I realize there has been a delay in the hero being recognized but he is now going to get the recognition he deserves and a dedicated officer of the law. Your Hero wil forever be remembered by you and others as well. May God's loving arms envelop you in his love and give you some measure of peace. The thin blue line has lost and other Hero, but it will continue to carry out the work started. Please know you are not alone in your grief and loss. Allow other survivors to share with you and help you through this tragic time.

To the family friends, loved ones, and to all who wear the badge of law enforcement, we send our prayers to you all. Another officer we have lost, this one by natural causes, but it is still hard for us to realize it was their time to leave this earth and follow God into a better place. It is still hard for those he left behind.
"DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME"
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path god laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call,
I turn my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Task left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Than fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I, too, will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow,
My life's been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
I believe in God and believe I will see you again.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

THIRTY THREE YEARS on the job, and with the same department. Very rare nowadays. Loyalty, dedication, and giving your life while saving others during a tragedy truly epitomizes what a "hero" is made of. You obviously felt that this was your calling, Jackie. Good for you. But now, your Maker has called you home....so....rest in peace, Comrade. You've earned it.
