Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Border Patrol Agent Ramon Nevarez, Jr.

Navarez,

You were always the first to say hello, had a smile everyday, and were a friend I will miss.

Your help with "Shop with a Cop" showed your good spirit and you will be greatly missed.

Rest in Peace my friend, my life was better for knowing you, and the country was safer from your service.

Your watch is over, and I will continue the watch.

Aloha Border Patrol Agent Ramon Nevarez Jr.,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a sacred keeper of the ODMP light. That sacred light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who shares their memories, stories, and celebrations on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. As we read the many heartfelt tributes left behind, may we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one. May we build upon love and faith knowing that this “bridge of tributes” will carry each and every one of us through the pain and sorrow until we meet with our beloved one again.

Border Patrol Agent Ramon Nevarez Jr.,
as we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are family.” You are embraced as our own family member. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one, not in this lifetime. May God Bless you and keep you. May God allow you to rest in peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. I HONOR you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.

--“Your life is much more important than you can imagine.” -- Maya Angelou

** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,

My name is Jesse Moreno and I've known Ramon "Coco" since the third grade. I remember we used to sit together during lunch and see eachothers cool lunchboxes. Ramon was a one of my best friends; we used to go out to clubs, eat, play videogames, ride his car, go to high school, and play basketball together. We used to do so many awesome things! I just could not believe that Ramon left us just like that. But God has his plans and ways of doing things. Ramon was always a GREAT individual, one great thing I learned from him is to live life to its fullest. I will never forget him for all the great things he did for me. We will miss Ramon and hopefully he will be in heaven waiting for us his friends to play basketball with him. REST IN PEACE meee meeeep!!!! We'll see ya soon bro!

Ramon, it is time for you to rest in peace, my prayers and thoughts are with your family on this heartbreaking time. God will eventually call on all of us, but he called you and David sooner than expected to serve him early.

You have finally been relieved of your constant and dutiful watch; we will now take it from here. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and constant smile. You will always be with us as we continue to hold the Line.

A P.A.s Prayer

Lord, we never asked that You always set things up
So that we could cut sign into the sun.
Even when we sweated gallons in the heat and
Our teeth chattered in the freezing cold,
We never asked You to stop the elements
Just for us.
In the midst of gasoline rationing and
Budget cuts,
We still went through doors,
We jumped the freights,
We rode the line.
We never expected You to change things
Just for us.
When one of us or an innocent was wounded or killed
We still trusted You;
Even though we didn’t always understand.
We just pray, Lord, that You give us grace enough
To live our lives as Your officers
As we continue the line watch
On this side of the Jordan River~
That when we finally get to the High County,
Beyond the timberline,
A place where smugglers don ‘t exist,
Where the water’s cool,
The coffee’s hot,
And where all of us can shoot one-inch groups;
That You’ll look at the visa
We got at Your Embassy down here and say:
“Welcome home, P.A, this is the Best detail of your life!”

My condolences to the Nevarez family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Agent Nevarez and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Agent Nevarez has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends of Agent Nevarez, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Agent Nevarez is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
