Reflections for Border Patrol Agent Ramon Nevarez, Jr.

To Ramon's family and friends...

I extend my deepest sympathy to you. I know there are no words that can ease the pain you feel now. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I did not know your son but from what I heard, he must have been a great person. May we all find comfort through our faith. May our sons who died together, rest in peace knowing they were loved. I thank them for their service to our country.

Ray what can I say man when I got the call the morning of March 17 about what happened I did not believe it, I thought Esqui was joking like we always did, I called your cell phone hoping you would answer and left you a casual message. I can't grasp the idea that you are no longer here. You were a great friend, and I have never met another agent who loved his job as much as you. I will miss your weekly calls with all the crazy stories. I have actually called your cell and mid ring remembered that you are no longer here. It comforts me to know that you are with your father. I will miss you greatly Beeeeeeeeee Peeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Ramon when I first met you the first thing you'd say is how much you wanted to become a Border Patrol Agent and some time later when I saw you again you had just graduated and were very proud of accomplishing your dream..you told me how I should go for it and become an agent as well and you believed I'd make it..well I did..and I never thanked you for the words of encouragement..so I'll thank you now for opening my eyes to this career.I'll remember you for having a smile and enthusiasm everytime I saw you as others will too. Now I will watch the line as you did in your time in the patrol. Rest in Peace Always. till we meet again..

Ray was my classmate, co-worker, and friend. Ray was a good man, always smiling, and a good agent. Ray constantly sought to improve himself in everything he did. The Patrol lost a great asset that night. I will not forget Ray, and I hope the work I do now will serve well his memory.
