After reading this, I wanted to offer my condolences and prayers to the family. I'm just a reader of news from out of state as I read this. It's assuring to know that there are dedicated law enforcement officers like Sgt. Popolizio out there.

I meet Pop while i was working five years ago at a barber shop. Being his barber I had many deep talks with him. He was a down to earth guy who talked nothing but great things about his family. Being 23 I learned a lot of things from Pop and took all his advice to the heart. Knowing that he was a Newark cop i remember that the last thing I would always say to him is be safe. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He will be missed and may he rest in peace.

My condolences to the family and brothers and sisters of Sgt. Popolizio at Newark PD. This is a tragic event where one of the "good guys" lost his life. It doesn't seem fair that the criminal lives, but take comfort in knowing that Sgt. Popolizio served his community and gave of himself to others and is most likely watching over all of us. Rest in peace and may God comfort his family.
