As a resident of Rockland County in New York State I have the pleasure meeting many people in the City of Newark. I have attended many of the festivals and parades in the City and met many of Newark’s Finest. (My girlfriend lives on VanBuren Street) It breaks my heart finding out about Sergeant Popolizio and the ultimate sacrifice he made. It hurts to know that all the fine Officers and the Sergeant's family has to face such a tragic loss. To me Newark is a large small City where everyone knows everyone. My sincerest condolences to the family of Sergeant Popolizio and the Newark Police Department. Thank you Sergeant Popolizio for making the City of Newark a safer place. You and your efforts shall forever be in our memory. You and your brothers will always be in my prayers.

Today we will polish our brass and sharpen our creases just a bit more, as we want to look our best when we bid our brother Sergeant Popolizio a final farewell tomorrow. It is the very least we can do for such a hero. On Wednesday, we will stand at attention in the bitter cold without so much as a flinch. Not simply because Sergeant Popolizio shared the same job description, but because he is FAMILY. As my eyes sweep across the sea of faces, most will be unfamiliar to me, but I know that they too, are FAMILY. As usual, I will be in awe to be in the company of such great men and women. Godspeed, Sergeant Popolizio. God Bless your family and the men and women of the Newark Police Department.

Sgt. Popolizio, if only we could understand why low lifes such as the one who was responsible for your death, do things to add to the penalties they already face. If this ‘person’ had simply faced the music for his first offenses, in this country, he would have gotten a mild sentence and that would be it. No, instead he piles on the charges and worst of all, causes the death of a dedicated Police Officer. He deprives a Police Department of a fine man who had a full career ahead of him, and he deprives a family of someone very important to them. For what?

My heart goes out to your family at this sad time. For your efforts, you are truly a hero and may that ‘person’ responsible be truly held accountable for his actions and your death.

God Bless and may you Rest in Peace, Brother.

God Bless also, the Port Authority Officer who caught the suspect.

Your life was a positive one, which left its mark on all who knew you. It takes a special person to pick up the responsibility to serve and protect. Not just our family and friends, but our communities as well. You served us all with honor and integrity. May the heavens embrace you, and those who have dedicated their lives to such a noble cause. May your family and children find solace & comfort. I know that for my brother, your friendship was special & you will be greatly missed.

Aloha Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are family.” God Bless this fallen hero. You are embraced as our own family member. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one, not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in peace.

Sergeant Tommaso Popolizio,
I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor and remember your sacrifice today for you shall NEVER be forgotten.

**May this Hawaiian prayer embrace those who read it with warm Aloha, and the Peace that comes from the Lord above.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

It was a pleasure working with Sgt. Popolizio in the 5th Precinct as well as in the 3rd Precinct , Although your time here on this earth was a short stay , God has a job for you up in the heavens . God chose you, one of his sons , our brother in blue , to patrol the heavens to watch over us from up above as you did when you watched over us when you were with us. Your job although so very hard I know you will give it 110% as you always did when you were with us. You will be missed dearly . R.I.P my friend , my brother ... God Bless you and your Family .......
