To the Popolizio Family, God Bless you all. I worked with Pops in the same Precinct and he was a great Sergeant and a friendly outgoing person. He always made his co-workers in our command laugh at his jokes. Pops will be dearly missed.

To the family and friends of Sgt. Popolizio and to all members of the Newark Police Department.....
"We are the dead. Short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie.....
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from falling hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep....
Sleep in peace...
The torch your falling hands let go
Was caught by us, again held high...
You are our dead, you held the foe...
We'll prove our faith"
To the brave men and women of Newark's finest, carry that torch faithfully and know that your sacrifices are appreciated.

Our lives briefly crossed and touched twenty years ago, long before either of us took the oath to protect and serve. My deepest sympathies go out to the Popolizio family, who are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless and look over all of you. I also offer my condolences to Sergeant Popolizio's friends and co-workers. We have all lost a brother who will be missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace Tommaso. You were a dedicated Officer who served honorably and gave the ultimate sacrifice for a city you loved and tried to make better.

On Every Watch
On every watch there is the risk that you may not return
To hold your loved ones once again, a lesson all officers learn
This does not stop you from doing your job and you do it with such pride
Although we’re saddened to see you go, you now serve at God’s side.
May your family and friends find peace and comfort in their memories of you and the love you shared in the too short time you were here.

There is no doubt that the city of Newark, is at a loss.
To have known you, was a PLEASURE.
To have worked with you was an HONOR!
To lose you a TRAGEDY!
You are truly NEWARK'S FINEST!
Such a loss can never be replaced. I'm sure it has been said many a times, but my heart goes out to the Popolizio family. No words can ever replace what has been taken away from each and everyone.
The greatest honor we can ever pay to "POPS" is never to forget what he has given to all of us. I am truly a better person for having known him.

Deepest sympathy on the loss of this heroic officer.
How sad that a young wife has lost her life's partner; that 4 youngsters have lost their brave daddy; that the world has lost a fearless protector.
Rest well thou good & faithful servant.
