Reflections for Sergeant Howard J. Plouff

Today begins the day of Memorials for an officer my department lost days ago. I am saddened yet again to see yet another brave, dedicated officer be taken from us too soon. I pray for your family, friends, and all members of the police department during this time.

I worked on the streets of Winston-Salem as a paramedic for quite a few years and you were one of officers that kept us safe and responded to our calls for help. I just want to say Thank you for your years of service and dedication to the citizens of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. There's no doubt that with you on the job the city was a safer place. And to the family, friends and coworkers of Sgt. Plouff may god help you through this tragic time and ease your mourning. I'm am truly sorry for your loss.

I am deeply saddened to hear that we have lost yet another Brother.
Sgt. Plouff, I will keep you and your family, and co-works in my thoughts and prayers. I know that God holds a special place in heaven for those that place themselves between the good and evil in this world. I hope that your family can take some comfort in knowing that you were doing what you loved and believed in. You are a true "HERO"... you were coming to the aid of fellow officers, And as an officer I know that feeling when you need help and you know that your Brothers and Sisters are coming. Look down on your family, co-workers and friends and wrap your wings of "Blue" around them and help them through this terrible and dark time.
God, I pray that you hold this fine man, his family and co-workers dear to your heart and help them during this painful time.
Sgt. Plouff Thank you for your years of service. I know that you were out there for us, protecting our families.
I did not know him in life, but he was my Brother..My Brother In "Blue".

+ Rest Now Brother, For Your Watch Has Ended +

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
(Author unknown)

+God bless all the men and women in blue.+

A Part Of America Died,

Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.
