Marshall Pettit,

You were my great grand-father whom I never got to meet. I have heard stories about you and my grandfather Vic whom I also didn't get to meet. My grandfather and his sister were just young children when you died, but they grew up and your legacy has continued on. I am twenty years old and am following in your footsteps. I am studing Criminal Justice in hopes someday I too will be an U.S. Marshal.

Your Great Grandson, Daniel Pettit

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 97th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace.

Though it has been almost 100 years since your death, I feel as thou you and Chief Lacy are in the cruiser by my side each night I go to work. Thank you for your service and may my service make you both proud.

Marshall Pettit:

I am very proud of your bravery and service. It is only proper that you are being recognized for your bravery, albeit 94 years later. Thank you for working this crazy job back when it was much scarier and dangerous. Brave men like you blazed the trail for those of us in modern times. God speed brother, we have the watch from here.
