Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect, not even 70 years.

I was very moved by the loving reflections left by your family. I hold them all in my heart's embrace today. To your daughter Fern, thanks for sharing a daughter's devotion to a beloved dad with us.

Rest In Peace

To my grandfather who I never got to meet. You are a hero! You caught the bad guy and they made him pay. So sorry that we had to lose you in the process. We talk about you all the time. My mom was really proud that there is a spot where we can honor you and read what others have to say as well.

I know that if you had lived we would have had a great relationship. Just know to all of the family you left behind we are very proud of who you were and what you stood for. Thanks for the service that you gave your life for.

Daddy,
I just wanted to do my own reflection . I was within two
months being six years old when you were killed. I do
remember a few things about you but not many. Mommy
always said I was your favorite one and that you named
me poony. You left three children when you died. Now
Evelyn and Sonny are both gone. I am the only one of
your children left and I have already had my 75th
birthday. I often wonder what life would have been like
had you lived. I often think of you and I get sad because
you died so young. I will always love you and miss you.

Your daughter, Fern Smith McGuire.

I never got to meet you, but I am grateful for your service and sacrifice. All I have is one picture of you and a picture of the jury who convicted your killer. I also have love in my heart and am proud to stand up for you and let the world know you were and are still a hero. Thank you Grandpa.

Constable Smith,
It has taken over 65 years, but you are finally being honored. I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Breathitt County. It took another year, but your murderer got the justice that he deserved.
