Sean,
Brother, I still can't believe that you are gone. You were the best in all of us. You always had a smile that would light up a room, and a laugh that would make all around you smile. You were the kind of guy that people just wanted to be around.
I has been an honor to work with and learn from you again.
It is impossible to put into words how sad I feel about not getting to see you again.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
God speed my brother, until we meet again.

Sean,

You were a teacher and a parnter when I first came on the department. You were a friend during some rough spots in my life. Though the job has taken us both down different paths, I take a bit you with me everyday that I am on the street. Thanks for helping out your brothers that came before and after you.

Aloha Police Officer Sean Wissink,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life last year in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum; a keeper of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here.

This "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is a hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find solace as we give solace to the families who have lost a loved one.

Police Officer Sean Wissink, God Bless you. You are a hero. As we say in Hawaii, “You are`Ohana.” “You are Family.” No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace. I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers, peace and love beyond all understanding. I honor you today. You will NEVER be forgotten.
** May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. **

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

My deepest thoughts and prayers are with Officer Wissink's wife, children, family, friends and co-workers. I was married to Alabama State Trooper Brian Nichols EOW 2/17/2002 and I am now married to Washington County Deputy Sheriff Aaron Carpenter. All of your COPS family is here for you and hurting for you. We all became a family when our loved ones became police officers and now we have even a stronger bond when one of our family members go down. We are here for you to help you along this journey you now have joined with us. God bless you all.

I knew Sean from several WMD training courses that we had participated in together. He was always outgoing, positive, and friendly. He always had everybody's full attention telling one of his many funny stories and he had a laugh that you knew was Sean the minute he walked in a room. To the other members of Metro Star and DMPD I mourn the loss of a wonderful comrade. My wife and I send our hearts and prayers out to Sean's wife and children.
