I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME

I never dreamed it would be me,
My name in all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
Alas, my name,no more my face.

"In the line of duty", I hear them say;
My family now the price to pay,
My folded flag stained with tears;
we only had those few short years.

The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest,
My weapon I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.

I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past;
Dear God, let my name be the last.

I first met Josh in 2004 when we attended BLET together. He was a hard worker and loved his job. Josh was not only an excellent officer, but was also a great husband, father, and friend. Josh was a good man who loved to make others happy. Josh enjoyed life and always seemed to be happy and have a smile on his face. Even with the stress that comes with his job, I never heard Josh cuss or put anyone down. Josh loved to play golf and basketball, and always beat me at both. I will miss Josh, but I have the comfort of knowing that he is now in the arms of God and I know he's still smiling. I wish Josh's family the best and my prayers are with you.
