Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Shawn Joshua Dean Williams

Why did you have to leave so soon?
I had just talked to you earlier that afternoon.
We were laughing and carrying on had I only known.
Had I known how the afternoon was going to end all wrong.

It hasn’t been the same since you’ve been gone.
You heard the call and was on the way,
I’ll never forget what I heard.
It ripped my heart to see you injured like that.

I prayed hoping to wake and find it all to be a dream.

It was extremely hard to face the fact,
you were gone and never coming back.
You were a great cop and a good friend,
but why did it all have to suddenly end.

So tragically taken from this world
your friends, family and wife and child.
You paid the ultimate price
and they all represent the supreme sacrifice.

You served mankind well and did
a thankless job that few would choose to do.
Knowing what the consequences could bring,
you accepted the task without hesitation,
giving your life for our preservation.

You were laid to rest with Honors
in such a glorious way we will never forget.
Bugles playing, bagpipes piping as the twenty-one gun
salute echoed in the air while we stood at attention.

Now I wake to another dawn
wondering why it had to go wrong.
Thoughts of you will always remain,
but things are not the same------

since you went 10-42.

May God Bless you.

Family be at peace Josh is in a better place.

My deepest sympathy to the Williams family. There are no magic words I can offer to comfort you except to keep Shawn's memory alive which I know all of you will do. Tell stories about him, ask those that worked with him to tell you stories about him and this will keep him alive forever in your hearts. You will never forget him nor will the Blue Family ever let him be forgotten. Know that you are not alone in this world as there are others like myself that walk in your shoes. All any of you can do is take one day at a time. Josh, keep watch over your loved ones, wrap your wings around them and protect them and help them with their grief. Also, keep watch over those still out on patrol watching over the Thin Blue Line. You are a Hero.

Dear Family, Friends & Co Workers of Officer Dean
Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. Scott was taken from us in the same manner as Shawn. We made it through with one thought, he was doing what he loved, helping and protecting others. You are not alone, you will find that this page will give you strength when you see how much Shawn has done and how any lives he touched. Shawn is in heaven watching over us now and he will always be with you.

Times like these are never good. And it dosent matter who we know that wore the uniform. What matters is that we are all the same, we are all brothers and sisters wearing a uniform. Now one of our own brothers has gone on to help others guard a place that we hope to see one day. This is not a sad day, but a joyous one. We should be proud that GOD selected Josh to represent us. God Bless

To the family of Officer Williams:
I never had the honor of knowing your loved one. Yet, he is still a brother officer. His unselfish sacrifice will be remembered forever. His departure is not in vain. He is not dead. He is walking the streets of Heaven, waiting on our arrival.
I don't understand why this had to happen to him at such a young age. Its difficult to know what to say in a time like this to bring you the comfort you need. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless you and comfort you. Remember....God knows what you are feeling. He lost a son too.

Officer Brian M. Walsh
