This whole event is so horrific that it's mind boggling. It is a perfect example of right versus wrong and good versus evil. The two cowards who carried out this vicious crime are the epitome of evil, but Deputy Altman is a shining example of the goodness, bravery and unselfishness exhibited every single day by the men and women in law enforcement. May God bless Deputy Altman, his family, Sheriff McDaniel, the McDaniel family and all the men and women of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.

Reading this situation in the news paper really makes you wake up and think about life. It is a shame that we as a community lost 2 selfless individuals to the act of 2 crazed luniticts. And it all boils down to MONEY. Needless to say money does not buy happiness!!
I am very sorry to hear of this and wish that words would go further and help ease the pain. Both families will be in my prayers as they grieve and go thru the healing process!

Dep. Altman, I read the horrible story about how you died as a hero. Answering the call of duty. The only good out of this is that the two cowards are dead. They are both were they belong. No trial or lawyers, just judgement. They can no longer ambush a defenseless wife of a sheriff and one of his deputies. I pray for your family and the Jackson County S.O. Rest in peace brother. Watch over us all. E Pluribus Unum (Out of many, One)

I saw your story on the news and was disgusted to know not once did they show a picture of you but they had numerous pictures of the men that killed you. The men that did this don't deserve to have their pictures on the news. You were doing your job and all the news stations care about is the bad guys. Thank you for your service. My heart goes out to your mother. I can't imagine the pain she is going through. Rest Easy....

Deputy Altman,
The words "thank you" are insufficient and inadequate at best. But I do thank you for your willingness to lay down your life in the line of duty. This proves you are a hero in life as well as in death. To your mom; I am praying for you and my sympathies go out to you at this time. To all Jackson County SD, I pray for you as you continue the watch. You are all heroes. To the deputies involved in the demise of the suspects, thank you!!! I am thankful for the times when God's justice is swift! Romans 13:4
