To the family of Deputy Rosa, I am so sorry that it has taken so long for her sacrifice to be recognized as a line of duty death. My brother was also the victim of an attempt armed robbery and when his gun was discovered, he was shot.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Maria will always be remembered as a hero.

I remembered hearing about this horrible crime in the news. I am grateful that it is finally being treated as in the line of duty. For if Deputy Rosa was not a law enforcement Officer, it may have been just another street robbery. Thank you for your service.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

I am very saddened and sickened to hear of this terible assasination by these horrid cretin cowards. This fine officer will not be forgotten. Another deputy just died in Florida as he responded to the assasination of his Sheriff's wife in her own home. This job is perilous 24&7. These off-duty attacks are so vile. This is an attack on our extended family and each of us and our family members, because we are all brothers and sisters of the badge, no matter the color of our uniforms.

Deputy Rosa I offer you my salute and thanks for being on the line and servinig with distinction. I offer my deepest condolences to your family, colleagues and friends.

This fine lady and officer now patrols a beat in Heaven with St. Michael as her final roll call is past. It is hard but please celebrate her life, not grieve the loss. Rest easy sister, we have the watch from here. Please keep an eye on us from up there and we will always remember you donwn here. God Bless and be safe out there brother and sister officers.
