Its been 1 year today and I remeber all like it was yesterday we had gone out the nite before and and you made it short because you had to go in early. It was the last nite we shared together with the guys and I will never forget it. When the news came in the morning I couldnt believe it we were just together how could this had happened,my first thought was how, why??
But God only has that answer he put you here to do this job but needed you ther for a bigger one I like to think of it like that. You will never be forgotten I will and will always remeber you my brother. You live always in my heart and are in my thoughts miss you much.
You brother,

Carlos

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I haven't spent a lot of time this year reading the memorials of the fallen officers, mainly because it saddens me that so many great men and women have fallen. It's a terrible thing that so many great lives were cut so short. As a fallen officer survivour, my heart goes out to all those that knew and loved Trooper Rosado. Know that you are not alone in this journey that you walk and that Jose will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg.

Trooper Rosado, thank you for helping to make this world a safer place. If you run into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a hug for all of us down here. It's been just over four years and we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

God decides the path that each of us follows in our lives. God saw something in you that was extraordinary and made you a trooper. You were employed by the New York State Police but you worked for HIM. You did what God asked of you and when your work was done, He called you home. Thank you for your work and sacrifice. To the family and friends, Trooper Rosado may be gone for now, but there will be a day when you will see him again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the New York State Police during this difficult time.
Trooper Rosado, know that your shift is not over because you ride with the Blue and Gray everyday in our hearts. God Bless You and Rest Easy.
