Reflections for Chief of Police Ernest Valencia Mendoza

To the Family of Chief Mendoza,

I offer my deepest condolences. I have known Chief Mendoza for the past six years. While living in Guy, every morning coming home from work he would always wave as I past by. The wave alone tells you that Ernie was a well-respected person. There was not a day that went by that you didn’t see Chief Mendoza sitting in his patrol unit on Hwy 36 watching for the safety of his fellow students and coworkers. Ernie’s memories will not be forgotten.

May God bless your family and friends during this difficult time

Officer Mendoza will never be forgotten by me or our community. He was a wonderful person whose presence alone could put a smile on your face. I played four sports for Needville and he was always there to both encourage and congradulate all of us. Officer Mendoza had the respect of every one i know. He will be deeply missed and his family and friends are in my prayers.

There was a time when I needed his protection;he was there for me
As my sons traveled to and from school, he was there to protect them
As my family attended school functions, he was there with a friendly smile
When I went to work each day, I looked forward to his wave-
A simple wave and a smile that touched so many
I will continue to wave each morning and hope to brighten up someone's day as he did mine
Pass the wave on and remember him.

Officer Mendoza was a great man. He never failed to smile, wave, give a nod, or come to the aid of the teachers and students at my campus. He will be missed by all Needville students and staff members. Every time I pass by his home on my way to work my daughter and I will remember him with a waive and a smile (the Ernie Mendoza way). His family will be in our prayers, and he will be in our hearts.

My students have written so many meaningful reflections this week--working their way through a tremendous loss......they miss him so much.

To the Family of Chief Mendoza and his fellow Officer's,

I offer my deepest condolences for our loss. In this job we are all Brothers and Sisters, we are all a family united to provide law and order to a society that doesn't want to accept responsibility for there actions.

Today like no time ever it takes a special person to have the courage and bravery to accept this position as a Police Officer. Ernie was obviously one that displayed a high level of respect and dignity and served your community well.

I'm glad to hear they caught the culprit. I hope justice is rendered upon this individual after four DUI arrests and now his actions took the life of a fine individual.

My prayers will be for Chief Mendoza's family and his fellow Officer's.

I again read the tragic of loss of another Brother in Blue. A senseless tragedy by a worthless indivisual. Again the court system has failed us in letting a worthless drunk back out and on the road to take away another American Hero.

May GOD Bless you and your Family. Rest in Peace my Brother.

Hero's never die; They just take on new assignments.

To the family and friends of Chief Mendoza,
From our family to yours we offer our prayers and support. We lost a loving father of 2 young boys, and my fiance to a vehicle crash in November 2006. Stay close, encourage and support one another. Allow yourself to grieve, and realize that whatever you are feeling is ok.
God Bless Chief Mendoza, may you look down upon your family and fellow officers from above. Know that we all appreciate your sacrifice.
