In My Mind
by Makala

Somewhere in my dreams tonight
I'll see you standing there
You look at me with a smile
"Life isn't always fair"

You say you were chosen for his garden
His preciously hand picked bouquet
"God really needed me,
That's why I couldn't stay"

It's said to be that angels
Are sent from above
I've always had my angel
My brother - whose heart was filled with love

Wherever the ocean meets the sky
There will be memories of you and I
When I look up at that sky so blue
All I see are visions of you

"While there's a heart in me, you'll be a part of me."

He had a heart of gold,
oh, and he was so bold.
It's hard to believe,
but this tragedy we must receive.
He was so true and pure,
he loved being a cop, we're sure.
He cared about all of us,
always dealing with the fuss.
We loved him from the start to the end,
but we will see him again.
He's in our hearts and minds,
because he had such a loving bind.
He was so fun,
and his face shone like the sun.
Oh, he was so cool,
always helping out at school.
He was so full of life
never really having strife.
He never even had to try
but he was a great and awesome person in my eye.
He'll start hes life over again,
in a beautiful and glorious place called heaven.

Celebrate him going to a better place.
You were so lucky to have him as a husband, father, friend.

While driving home, his car was hit.
There is sorrow now, but in future years
The happiness and memories will shine through the tears.
A good man was killed and the grief and sorrow
Will probably not be gone tomorrow.
But remember, while you are sad today
Death comes to us all someday.
And though the sadness won't soon be erased,
You know he is in a better place.

I am sorry for your father;
He was a great man indeed.
He loved you, son or daughter,
Just think of it - as his soul being freed.

He will go to the best of locations,
Where he will gladly live.
He's going to the greatest of great nations,
The place God said he'd give.

While walking on streets of gold,
He is waiting with all of his love,
So that when we become old,
We'll go and visit him above.

I miss you my big brother, all of us mom and our sister and brother miss you. We are hurting and are in pain, but we are depending on God's grace and strenght to pick us back up. Mother is so strong she said that God was her strenght, her salvation, her light her help in time of trouble. Ernie we will see you soon, you are in our future. You are with God the Father. And Ernie we forgive this man that killed you and the people that make the horrible mistake of letting him go the first time he was drunk driving. I will miss you, brother. It is well with my soul.

Sometimes I take for granted the family that I am a part of, Cousin Ernests' death brought it all back to reality. He was the embodiment of everything our family stands for, and yesterday, as hundreds of people came to his funeral to pay their respects, I was humbled and so very proud. He touched so many lives and we will never be the same because we knew him. He was and is a hero, and he loved as much as he was loved. My heart goes out to his beautiful wife and children. We love you!
