Reflections for Sergeant Nicholas G. Sottile

Wow….17 years! So much time has passed and yet, there are moments when I can see you sitting at our table like it was yesterday.

My goodness Nicky...it's been 16 years since you were taken from this world. I think of you often, our high school days, watching you and Ray play those tubas at our football games and rallies, your smile and laugh. I remember our days working at Winn Dixie, it was all "fun and games". I still remember the day my late wife (Ann) called and told me of your death...it was so hard to comprehend, I just couldn't make sense of it. I drive by your memorial when I'm in the area and sometimes stop by and reflect on those memories...the good memories that I have. You were an awesome person Nick! God Bless your family my friend.

Stories will be told and some tears shed today. Your memory is alive and well with family, friends and coworkers every day, but just a little more today.

Nick even though I haven’t posted anything in the past not a year goes by with me not thinking of you as a wonderful classmate of the 68th Basic Recruit Academy but also as a loyal great friend and person. January 12th is a day that we will never forget our loss as our love and compassion lives on forever. I never travel US 27 without pulling over at the memorial and saying a prayer for you and your family. RIP Brother and I was most honored to have you as a friend. Respectfully Sam Gibbs, FHP Retired and Class President of the 68th Recruit Class

Hey Nick! Still missing you more than you know. How we all wished that you could have been at Heather’s wedding (physically) but know that you were with us in so many other ways. Your “Brotherhood” represented you well. What a special memory for Heather. Keep on watching over us!

Hey. Nick. I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. Can’t believe it’s almost 15 years I’m sure you look down here at your family with great pride I’m sorry I couldn’t get to *****’s wedding. The pictures looked great and it was wonderful that all the troopers showed up to be with her. I’m very sorry I missed that. Just wanted to say I miss you , my friend

January 12, 2019 - 12 years

Reading this page again after another year and you start saying things like "Was he really only 48?" "I still can't believe this happened" "Why is the POS that shot him able to drag this through the court system 12 years later?"

But the one thing that stays the same is that this picture never fails to make me smile (might be a watery one) because it reminds me so much of who you were. Still missing you!!
