Pull me hearties. pull.
Stroke gently the waters smooth
No ripple shall we make.
At death's silence we part wave to seaward
Holding in Chiefly state
The Shield of our fallen comrade
His soul inscribed thereon.
Make swift his Longboat.
Fire it sure to glide
Lifted as on wings home
Without toil to achieve.
Honor in slow drum and muted pipe
This mortal who gave all
To brethren grateful.
Ask tears to glass the way
Leaving undisturbed the lengthening swell.
And we go on to life
Called to tangled vines
Knowing not our fate.
The ranks stray not
Rather entwine
As warrior hearts come
To stand our brother's watch.

I knew Steve from kindergarten through 12th grade. Through those years that I knew him he was always a nice and polite person. I have only good memories of him when we were growing up. When I heard of his accident, and his later passing on the news, I was saddended to see such a fine person go. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Rest in peace Steve, you will not be forgotten.

Dear Barbara and family,
Although you feel empty and in pain, know that Steve is still with you, can see you and hear you. Talk to him as much as you want, if you feel him with you, he probably is, if the children say they have seen Daddy, they probably have. When it is your time to pass to the spirit world, he will be there to greet you. As painful as it feels, you will all move forward with the rest of your lives, Steve will be there with you every step of the way.

Braddah Steve,

What can we say, we entered training as strangers and graduated as brothers/sisters. That brotherhood remained with us as we went our separate ways in our career. On behalf of the class it was a honor to train and serve along side of you. To Barbara and children our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rest In Peace Steve, until we meet again. A hui hou

My thoughts and prayers go out to OFC FAVELA, his family and friends and the Honolulu Police Department, I was stationed in Hawaii for 3 years from 93-96 and respected the way that the Honolulu Police Department conducted business, it is a shame that such a warrior was taken from the city and his family and friends too soon, we will continue on in his honor.

We were so very sorry to learn of Officer Steve Favela's passing this past weekend. We read the Star Bulletin daily having relocated to British Columbia from the islands in June 2005. Our hearts dropped so low when we saw the article yesterday. We send our prayers and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Officer Favela. Rest in Peace.

As a long time motorcycle rider I would simply like to say that we have nothing but the highest respect for the riding skills displayed and risks faced by all solo bike officers on a daily basis. The loss of this officer in the line of duty not only serves as a stark reminder to us all who ride, but is also a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice that has been made by way too many officers (from all departments)over the years as they serve our communities each and every day.

I would simply like to pass on my own condolences to the family, HPD, and to all motor officers on behalf of all of us who ride and at the same time express both our gratitude and respect for your service.

Steve;
Although you were only with us for 3.5 years as a Reservist, you made one hell of an impact. We will miss you dearly. It was a privilege and honor to work with such a dedicated and consumate professional. Your smile still permeates throughout our complex. We will certainly carry on your legacy!
May God bless you and your beautiful family.

Always,
