Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Senior Trooper Robert A. Hill, Sr.

Rest in peace Trooper Hill. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Take care Trooper. Its a sad thing to see a fellow officer Killed (or Hurt) preforming their duty. But someone has to look out for the community and we do our best with what we have. Now its your end of shift and a fellow Officer will watch your area as he knew you would have. In a way, you're still patroling and watching them so they will be safe..

May God comfort Trooper Hills family and friends and his fellow brothers and sisters of the Virginia State Police. May his family know that they are in our prayers and that he was an one of the people who make our state a safer place for us all. May you rest in peace brother. All of us in law enforcement upon hearing the news of Trooper Hill feel that pain in our hearts that not only an officer has died but also a son, husband, dad and a best friend has finished their earthly tour of duty much too soon! May God hold Trooper Hills family close to Him during this time.

Deputy Larry Dockery
Pittsylvania County Virginia Sheriff's Office

To Mrs. Hill, your son and daughter,

I offer your family, friends and Trooper Robert A Hill's fellow Troopers my deepest sympathy.

I will say a prayer that God sends his blessings on all of you as you cope with the loss of your loved one and friend at this most difficult time.

I am always saddened to read about the law enforcement officers who have their lives taken at the hands of motorists who are either distracted or dui. How avoidable, if only people were more responsible and less indulgent.

May Trooper Hill rest in eternal peace for having protected and served his community for so many years.

God bless you Trooper Hill as you watch over your family and friends from His heavenly home.

With my sincere condolences.

sister of NYS Trooper S.J. Embarrato eow 7/6/61

To the family of Trooper Hill...my heart breaks for you...another senseless loss...I often wonder how so many drivers on the road can just fly by the officers working so diligently to make our roads safer....I wish we could get the word out to everyone...move over.. slow down...give them the chance to make your ride safer...I realize that the laws are working in that direction, but it just seems to be taking too long to teach it!!

Thank you Trooper Hill....thank you for making our lives safer....better.. you are a true hero...

I wish your family peace during this difficult time...please call on your brothers and sisters in blue to help carry you through.. being from Virginia, I know they will do all they can for you...I have a special place in my heart for Virginia State Troopers.. when we lost Drew, they came to our little town of Suffolk and worked the streets so that every one of our officers could attend the funeral...and when we traveled along Rt 58 to take Drew home to NC, the Virginia State Troopers esorted us all the way to the NC line.. and they were at every crossing...standing at attention...watching as Drew went by... I hold those images closly in my heart...I am eternally grateful....

God bless you and your family Trooper Hill.. I will never forget you...

much love,

I am terribly sorry that this has happened. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the patrol. I think everyday about troops across seas and law enforcement here in the states. The job of a patrolman is dangerous yet rewarding. I find comfort in the fact that these men and women risk their lives on the job to ensure our safety in day to day life. I pray that God lay his loving hand upon this family and the loved ones surrounding, to help them throuhg their grieving and to guide them in coping with the loss of Trooper Hill. May all their hearts be blessed and know that they are in many people's prayers.

Robert,
I am shocked and truly saddened to learn of your passing. I am thankful to have had those few minutes with you the other week when you stopped by my office for a quick visit. When you left, I thought how fortunate your community was to have such a dedicated trooper assigned to them. You professionalism and dedication to the department and citizens of the Commonwealth will be a void never completely filled. Rest well and knowing that your fellow troopers, deputies and officers will continue with you thought important enough to lay down your life for. My thoughts are with your family during this time.
