Dear Brian,

Who knows how many lives you have saved or crimes you have prevented by just driving down a single street.

Who knows how many people you have inspired by just putting your on uniform and walking out the front door.

Who knows how many children look up to you and are convinced they want to be just like you when they grow up.

Who knows how many people are forever changed just by knowing you.

I thank you today, not as a fellow police officer, but as a citizen of the community you protect. I did not have the privilege of knowing you, but I am forever inspired by your courage.

Brian -

As I sit here and begin to write this reflection, I for once in my life am speechless. Another brother gone in an instant - someone whose life and career were cut way too short - someone whose positive impact on all the lives he ever touched will never be forgotten.

I can only remember a few months ago we lost another brother - another friend - another hero. When I heard the name of the deputy who was shot, my heart sank. I can only think of a saying I once heard, "Heaven is crowded tonight - too crowded with the souls of heroes who now have been called back to become angels" - I know you are one of them.

Know this - the search for the people involved will never end and justice will be done - please keep all of those brothers and sisters who are still down here safe and allow us to carry on in the wake of on of the greatest losses most of us will ever know. It was one of the greatest honors of my life to have known you - even if it only was for a short period of time.

God speed bro - you will never be forgotten.

I worked with you before you joined the BSO and we became best friends. You were so proud to be a part of the BSO and we were proud of you as well. My heart will always be with you. I always enjoyed your company and will miss your phone calls to meet for lunch to tell me about the children. May God be with you and your family.
Until we meet again.

Brian,

I remember when we first met 8 yrs ago and how we both wanted to be police officers. We both got hired I tried so hard to get you to apply with us. You were so happy when BSO hired you. Over the past few years when you would work the port and write tickets on 17 St with me, or we would meet for dinner and talk about how cool it would be to work together I would still try and convince you to come work with us. I think back at the jokes and the good times we had. We would have had a blast working together. I will miss you. RIP Brother. See you again one day.
