I was priveleged enough to meet this man and was impressed by the extreme politeness and kindness of him. He made an everlasting mark in my heart that there still are good guys out there.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Deputy Sheriff Briese, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

I miss you brother. I remember when you first taught me some of those power lifts at Gold's back in 1987. I remember your sound advice and your laugh when I asked you about a situation I had on the street and I felt like I screwed it up. You always had a joke and a good laugh to make me feel better. When I first announced that I was thinking of leaving the county to pursue another agency out on the east coast, you said that you hated to see me go, but knew that I would be a great officer elsewhere and that I always did a good job. That made me feel really good inside. It was always nice to hear from the people you looked up to. I wish I had been settled into a house we have yet to purchase so I could have dug out those photos at gold's gym with you and Steve doing power lifts together. I promised you, once we got settled, I would get a copy to you. I am so sorry brother, everything is still in boxes and now I can never get them to you. I hope you will forgive me when we see eachother next. I wish I could come back to Billings for the funeral, but I can't. I was lucky to have had you as a friend for all those years. I will never forget you. You are missed brother.
