Reflections for Sheriff James Leroy Johnson

Although I didn't personally know Sheriff Johnson, I do know that he was very well respected within the law enforcement community and amongst the public he served. It was a tragic set of circumstances that took place that day and I want to thank Sheriff Johnson for his years of service as well as his family for their years of service. You all can be very proud of the work he did and it will be carried on by the officers who knew him and the public he served. May God bless you all!

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Sheriff Johnson, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

True leaders lead from the front. They don't ask anyone to go where they wouldn't go themselves. And they aren't afraid to put themselves in harms way when the tough jobs have to be done. This Sheriff proved he was such a man. God Bless you, your loved ones and your department members.

And a special prayer and thought for the undersheriff. I trust that you will find peace and knowledge that you did what you had to do, and that you were standing exactly where you were meant to stand during this most difficult of times.

Jimmy,

You were the one of the most respectful and caring people I have ever met. I am honored to have known you and want to thank you for showing me how to serve the people in the community. It made an impact on me and helped in my decision to enter into Law Enforcement.

You will be missed dearly and words cannot express how I felt when I heard the news. You and your family are in my thoughts. It's not going to be the same when I come back home. Please keep watch over us while you are upstairs big guy.
