Reflections for Police Officer II Landon Michael Dorris

Officer Landon Michael Dorris, in this early stage of my starting journey as an officer of the law, I had learned through my mentors & instructors that one of the must important things of this career is to Respect & Honor the Memory of true professionals that like yourself dedicated everything...including your last breath, in order to served the public. Your sacrifice was, is and will be priceless.

You had fought the good fight. You will always be remember...by your family & by people like my self that, found out about the way you had carried out and lived your life. GOD bless you, GOD bless your wife & kids.

You are a true Roll Model, Thank You!!!

Officer Dorris,

As I start the journey of this new career I have come across many great people. They teach us, mentor us and always remind us of great officers that are no longer here with us. It is important to me to keep the memory of those who have fallen alive. Although I never had the pleasure of working with or knowing you personally I believe that every officer has touched many lives for the better and you, along with all the other officers that have fallen, will never fade.

Thank you so much for your service. God bless you and your family. Even though I am just starting a career in law enforcement you have taught me a great lesson. I will always remember you and your story to share with other officers and their families. I know you are now in a better place looking out for all of us.

Hello Landon,
On September 15, 2011, the Los Angeles Police Foundation conducted the inaugural Purple Heart Ceremony in which you and dozens of other officers from the LAPD were honored for their severe injuries, or in your case the ultimate sacrifice made in the line of duty. The event was executed flawlessly and was a fitting tribute to the courageous men and women being honored.

While attending the ceremony I had the privilege of spending time with some of your friends and family. Although stoic, their pain is clear, every day without you is a challenge for them. On the one hand meeting these brave, wonderful people underscored what a terrible tragedy your loss is. On the other hand you were blessed to have had such people in your life. Rest in peace my brother and rest assured that your service and sacrifice are appreciated and honored.

Well wishes of peace, comfort and healing for the family of Police Officer Landon Michael Dorris. Without police officers, the world would be terribly off. I have many police officers in my family and give them the respect that they are due.

Dear Love,

It's been a while since I've written. I've been very busy as you know. Life has not been easy for me and our kids. A lot of changes has happened. I am just being patient with God and waiting to see when I will be happy like I once was. Your Aunt Sharon sent me a picture of you and me at your Grandparent's house. I was so happy to see that picture. We looked so happy. Of course the reason of us being there was not a good one. It was obvious how in love I was of you. I had that genuine smile in my face that I haven't seen in so long. You made me so happy. You meant the world to me.

I see you in our boys and every time Landon and Brendan make a facial expression like you I make sure I let them know when they look like you. They love it when I do that. Brendan has your smirk and Landon looks like you all around. Landon is a mini you.

Just want to let you know that I am trying very hard to do everything right like you would have wanted too. You are still and will always be in our lives. You will live on forever my dear Love.

Much Love,
Your Family

Dear Landon,

I've heard from many people that you were quite a man and an officer. I wish I had the chance to meet you before you were taken from us so tragically. Rest assured knowing that your fellow brothers and sisters will take it from here. Watch over your family from Heaven and watch how your boys will grow up to be amazing men just like their father. They have big shoes to fill, but I have no doubt that they will be great!

Rest in peace brother.

Marisabel & Sons.

I read that your husband / father was very young when he took the Oath to Protect and Serve & I'm sure he touched many lives in a positive way, not always realizing it. Though your husband / father was taken at such a young age, he proved to be a wonderful role model. I'm sure he is still watching over you. Please remember that there are people who pray for you & the loved ones of the Officers who gave their lives, so we can feel safe in our own community. May you find peace and comfort when you think of Landon & know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

God Bless,

Bobbie

While it's nearly five years since we lost you, your memory is still alive in the hearts of your friends and family. Your tragic loss when you were so young with so much to live for is heartbreaking. Why such things happen is beyond explanation.

On the other hand you followed your dream. You spent your life in a noble pursuit, "to serve and protect." Sadly few people do this, but you did. Most importantly you inispired love and devotion. You have a legacy of two wonderful sons who would make any father proud. God bless you Landon. Rest in peace and rest assured that your service and sacrifice are remembered and honored.

Landon,
I've been reading all the messages people have left for you. Youv'e touched so many people in your short life. You would be so proud of Marisabel and your boys. Those boys look so much like you when you were little. When I think of you, I remember your smirkey little smile and it always makes me smile. Say hello to your Dad for us and to Grandma and Grandpa too. Look out for Pot Shot too, as he joined all of you a couple of months ago. We miss you all every day. Until we meet again....hugs.
