NEVER FORGOTTEN!
14 years ago, on October 22, 2006, Officer Landon Dorris of the LAPD was killed in the line of duty. Long after the speeches are over and the ceremonies ended, Landon’s family, including his lovely young widow and their two small boys were left to carry on without him. Although Landon’s boys were small babies when he was taken from them, his memory has been kept alive for them through his devoted widow and friends from the LAPD and CHP. His boys are growing into fine young men and credits to their Mom and Dad. Let’s keep this brave family and so many others like them in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you and your family Landon and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
Matthew 5:4

On October 22, 2006, the LAPD lost Officer Landon Dorris to a tragic accident. Landon’s loss has been a catastrophic event for his lovely widow and their two small boys. Now, long after the speeches are over and the bagpipes have moved on, they must go on without him. Despite this the boys, only babies when they lost their Dad, are growing into fine young men and credits to their Mom and Dad. Officer Dorris,

I came across your name on the Los Angeles County Memorial Wall at the Biscailuz Center Academy. Your name stood out to me because you passed away close to my 10th birthday. At that time, I had no idea that I wanted to become a Police Officer. I was still young and naive. Now I am in my eighth week at the Los Angeles Sheriff Academy.

Throughout those eight weeks I have learned how amazing this job can be, but I also learned how unforgiving this job can be. I'll admit that there are days that I feel tired, but when I see the names on the Memorial Wall it is a reminder that what I am feeling is nothing compared to what you felt. I know that every Officer/Deputy on that wall would love to be in my position.

As I scroll through your page, I can tell you were a great Officer, husband, and father. Although I never had the pleasure to meet you or work with you, your legacy still lives on.

Landon was not only my trainee when he came onto the Highway Patrol, but I also had the privilege of training him for his CHP Motorcycle duty. He was very naive and was in serious (culture shock) when he arrived in one of the busiest offices in the State (Santa Ana). I remember taking him Downtown and he saw his first druggie and hooker. He was amazed at all of the action and hustle and bustle of the big city. I was so sad when I heard of his EOW with LAPD. Will never forget the good times we had together...

I happened to be across the street from the original scene this morning, the 9th anniversary of this officer's death, and saw about 6 officers from the LAPD Northeast Division laying flowers and paying tribute. It was nice to see he continues to be remembered by his peers...

NEVER FORGOTTEN!
On October 22, 2015 it will be nine years since LAPD Officer Landon Dorris lost his life in the line of duty. In a moment of driver inattention, by another, Landon’s life was taken. Losing this fine young man to such carelessness is obviously tragic. What may not be as obvious is the ever present pain Landon’s family suffers, the holidays, birthdays, school and sporting events that he would have attended. I’ve only known him through family and friends. Landon was blessed to have such people in his life. Please keep Landon’s family and so many others like them in your thoughts and prayers.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

God bless you and your family, Landon, and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

I have followed this page for a while, because I've often thought about how sad it is that after a police officer makes the kind of sacrifice as did Officer Dorris, it is in the news for a few days and then, honestly, a lot of people just forget. This page is a great way of creating a permanent memory. I am posting here only because I wanted to say also that I have found the Officer Dorris reflections to be the most moving of those I have seen on the entire page. He clearly meant a lot to many people, and when I hear about his boys, I think about my own boys, and about the good fortune they and I have enjoyed in this life. You know, how lucky we are every day.

So thank you, Officer Dorris, and thank you, ODMP.

By chance I sat behind your two sons during the 2014 Candle Light Vigil. It was a joy to see them enjoying each others company as they waited for the event to begin.
I spoke with the older boy briefly, because I could tell that seemed to have had COPS wisdom about him. He was very proud of all the pins that he had been given by officer friends. And he has a Mentor!
I just wanted to say that the boys seem to be very comfortable with themselves. I know that you are proud of them and know that it is a pleasure to have met them, even if for only a moment. God's speed and thank you for your service.

I attended the CHP Academy with Landon. We were in different companies, but I served a Wednesday night restiction with him. We got paired together cleaning up some of the staff offices. We made the best of it cracking each other up. He was a funny guy and had me laughing hard. I was deeply shocked and saddened when I learned of his passing. RIP Landon and God bless your family

Dear Landon,

Happy Thanksgiving Honey. If you were here, you would of asked for stuffing, your favorite and a little of turkey with gravy of course.

Although I'm in Paris, the city of love, I think about you everyday and everyday I miss you. I see all these happy couples in love. Very romantic. I don't envy them but it sure makes me blue and reminds me that I don't have the one and only " my true love ".

I talk about you everyday. They love to hear stories about you. It puts a smile in their faces when they hear stories. Your buddies came over on your anniversary and I made them tell a story about you. It was amazing. It reminded me how funny, loyal, caring, loving, serious, and a hardworking man. And one more thing, extremely shy. Haha!

Miss my best friend. Please Honey, help me watch over our boys. I love them so much, they mean the world to me.

Say hello to your Dad and my Dad for me. I miss all of you.

Landon,

I was honored to take part in the memorial ride that your brothers put together for you. I was even more honored to have met your wife and your sons. They are amazing! Your wife is so strong. The boys are adorable.

I hope you know that your NOE family has not forgotten them and are still looking out for them.

RIP. You are truly not forgotten.
