May the good Lord assuage the anguish of this, your most outrageous fortune. On behalf of a grateful nation, a sober law enforcement community, saddened campus Police Departments and a shocked neighborhood, we pray that our heavily father takes Robert's soul into his loving hands. Only you, the family of our fallen brother, fully understand the sacrifice that has been placed upon the alter of freedom.

I just wanted to thank everyone that still writes in and remembers such a wonderful human being. My nephew is greatly missed and I think of him everyday...It is still a great loss to my family and there is not a day that goes by, I do not think of him..but it helps to see so many people that still think of him and the person he was..

And I just wanted to personally thank each and everyone of you that still keep him in your thoughts..

God Bless you all...

I will be a rider in the Police Unity Tour this year. I am sponsoring/riding the memory of Officer Langley. If your not familiar with The Police Unity Tour it is a 300 mile bicycle ride from New Jersey to Washongton D.C. during Police Week to honor officers killed in the line of duty.

Officer Langley was not assigned an officer for the ride as of last week. Now he has one. Me!

I have contacted Officer Langley's department and made them aware of my intentions to ride for his memory. I would love to speak to people that were close to Officer Langley to get a feel for the type of husband, father, friend and officer he was. The department has my contact information. Please use them a a liason.
Thank you and God Bless

Having been brought up in a law enforcement family I have been around Lawmen all my life.(I am third Generation,my son fourth).I consider "Robbie" to have been one of the best I have had the pleasure to have known and call my friend. He was the kind of officer that cared about everything he did and everyone around him. He would talk with the students and give advice about anything that he could. He was the type that after you had talked with him five minutes you felt like you had known him forever . He will be missed by all that knew him.

I had the chance to meet Officer Rob at an Ole Miss football game this season. My brother and girlfriend were close friends to Officer Rob and talked about him all the time. When we saw him at the game they were so excited to see him because he had just gotten back from his deployment in Afghanistan. I heard about how he finally got to work with the K-9 dogs and how excited he was. He was such a nice guy. Sympathy to his wife Lisa and kids. He will truly be missed. The guy that did this to him should sit in jail and have to live with what he did his whole life and have to read all of these to see how important the life we lost was to everyone in the NATION!

Aloha Police Officer Robert Michael Langley,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here. That "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find comfort as we give comfort to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “We are`Ohana.” We are family. God Bless this fallen hero. May we embrace him as one of our own family member; our `Ohana. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace.

Police Officer Robert Michael Langley, I wish you, your loved ones, your fellow officers, and friends, peace and love beyond all understanding.

May all who read this tribute take comfort in this Hawaiian prayer.
Me Ke Aloha Pumehana. (With Warm and Sincere Aloha).

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".
Ka Maluhia o ka "I", owau no ka Maluhia,

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

A'ole ka Maluhia o ke ao aka, ka'u Maluhia wale no,
Ka Maluhia o ka "I".

Langley,

My greatest fear came to be a reality the morning of October 21, 2006, when I received that life-changing phone call. Working in emergency services has been my passion while attending Ole Miss, but I have dreaded the day that I would be called to a scene involving a dear friend. It never occurred to me what it would be like NOT to be there. It has taken me quiet some time to realize that I was meant to be out of town that morning and accept that this was all part of God’s plan.

Lang, you were the greatest. You will never know what you meant to me and well as the rest of UPD. My time spent there is something that I will cherish forever. I miss my morning crew, my home and my family. That is what you were – family. Brother we shared a lot of goofy times on the morning crew as well as a lot of serious times and you can rest assured that your watch will forever be remembered and continue to be carried out by those left behind.

Robert, you were one of the most respectful, dedicated and courageous officers I have ever met. You touched the lives of so many. Not only lives in the community, but the lives of us who at one point or another had the pleasure of serving with you. You were truly one of a kind and will be forever missed.

Rest in Peace B-5!!

I grew up in Oxford, spent most of my afternoons and summer days on campus, and as a result became very familiar with the department. That campus was safe and comfortable for me in large part due to the UPD. I am also an LEO wife, married to a man who worked as a univeristy police officer for 6 years before he went to his current post with the city. Our city department lost an officer on October 31, 2006, and I came to the site again to remember him, and found the memorial for Ofc. Langley. Until we lost MPO Whitson, I never knew what it was like to grieve for so many people at once. We still have blue lights up at our house in rememberance of MPO Whitson, but now I will add to my prayers a man who worked to protect my hometown. Thank you, Ofc. Langely, Godspeed. I have no magic words for his family, only love and prayer for healing. For his law enforcement family, take his watch proudly and know that he watches over you.
