Reflections for Police Officer Robert Michael Langley

Here we are again at this sad time of year. Guess things will be different this year since Rachel joined you and Rusty. My heart is heavy wishing I could take your place and you be here living life and watching the kids grow up. Guess you see where you will be getting a daughter in law soon. Watch over them as they start a new chapter in their lives. Your daddy is still working, but deals with arthritis everyday. He is getting ready for the deer season as usual. I came across your bow in the closet last week and thought how much you loved hunting and fishing. Guess you had to love it since it is in the Langley blood. As always know that you are missed dearly, all year long not just at this time of year. Keep watching over us and give the family with you a hug.

I am just a black retired lady from Mississippi. I grew up until the age of fourteen in Coles and Crosby Mississippi. Then moved to Detroit MI then Grand Rapids. My career with a fortune five hundred company took me to live in several states. My son was a policeman who just retired in MO in 2020. He served for thirty years. I just happened to be on my computer tonight and saw this Handsome officer, a father and Husband and son. My heart is breaking for this family. What I pray for is peace for this family. Heaven has an angel watching over you all and me as well. I am so angry also that the person that is responsible for Mr. Langley's death only was charged with Manslaughter and only got twenty years. Why not Capital Murder and life for this crime. This is awful and not justice to me at all for this family. Please stay strong. Don't know you but love you all and will always keep you in my prayers. Wish I could give you all a big hug. Here is one... Love, Clementine Sparks from Kansas City, MO

I met Officer Rob as we called him when I was a freshman at Ole Miss. He was routinely checking rooms and he made a bet that we couldn't name a song for him. I did and from then on Officer Rob would come by our dorm room to check on us, make sure that we were ok and staying out of trouble. He was extremely nice and cool to be around. I was heartbroken when I heard about the incident that killed him and to be honest really angry.

Officer Rob, you were a fantastic guy and I appreciate you watching out for us.

At this time of the year people are honoring police officers. We know that your name will be on that list of fallen officers, but it still doesn't seem real. You were taken just when God had it planned, but way too early in your life for us. You are missed! Thank you for your protection from Heaven, we know you are always watching over us.

The anniversary of that horrible day is here again. Your memories are still fresh in our hearts. We still meet people that knew you and share their memories with us. You left a mark on many lives in your short time here on Earth. Your family and friends still miss you. We laid Cecil and Mary to rest on this day two years ago. Bet you and Papa Cecil are sharing hunting and fishing stories, keep them honest now! Life goes on, but there is still an empty spot where you once stood, now filled with your memories. We love and miss you!

It seems like yesterday we were playing ball and talking about the future in law enforcement. I visit your grave when I can and every time I go by the cemetery I honk the horn and say miss you buddy. You would be so proud of your boys. Robbie has done well in football. They won a state title this year. Cory is doing well in baseball and football. I have let Cory on the field a few times when he has come to Robbie's football games. Cory gets excited about being able to go onto the field with Robbie. I will never forget you or the things you and I did together as friends. I love you brother. You are in my thoughts everyday.

I miss you everyday. I know you are watching over us as we do our daily jobs. Things are getting tough on the streets. Your boys are growing like weeds. You would be proud. Never a day goes by that I don't think of you. Love you and miss your smile.

been awhile since I have written, Have thought a lot about my nephew these past few month, with all the hate towards cops. If people could only see from my eyes what a LE looks like, then maybe just maybe they would look at them different and show the respect they deserve.
Even tho it's been over 8 years, it seems like it was yesterday that I was picking on him. the last day I saw him, he had just gotten his new best friend, his partner...he was so proud to be a K9 officer..kept telling me to go to his cage, he would eat me up..I lol and went down there, he licked my face..I said yea, tough dog u have there...he just gave me that big ole GRIN..that grin that would melt you to your very soul.
I'm just as proud of him today as I was the day he was born..and will always be that proud aunt..
Robbie, we miss you daily, you were that part of that family that held us together..we love and miss you more than anything..
But I know your always looking down on us.. bless you sweetie..I love you today, tomorrow and forever!! P.S. today is Pawpaw Bd, so give him a big ole hug for me and grannie and granddaddy!!

Sitting here thinking about how busy you would be right now with the big game in Oxford Saturday. Watch over all of your old partners and friends as they carry out their duties. Another has flown by and we all still miss you. The kids are growing up so fast, your daddy is getting to be an old fart and I know you see your Papa Cecil had a stroke. He is okay, but don't know if he can hunt this year, you know that will be hard for him, he is a Langley through and through!! Love you always!!

It's been twenty years since we've seen each other and today I saw an old picture of you.... I've thought of you so many times over the years and use some of our memories to guide and teach my son about love and life. I'm so thankful for those memories and will cherish them forever.
See you in heaven, my dear friend.

Langley as we referred to him in the Police Academy was my Platoon Leader. He was a big burst of positive energy as he rallied us to keep going and to never give up. He reminded me every day that we are almost at the finish line. His really great guy and would help me with my studies at night before are test the next morning. Langley will forever be missed. Good morning my friend. I watched Robbie play football last night. He did good. You would be proud. I know the anniversary of your death is coming up soon. I miss you so much. I know you are in a better place and watching over us. When you aren't busy helping others send us a little sign that all is good. Miss your smiling face. I will try to kill a big one for you this year. Love you.

Hey Bro,
Candy and I stopped at your grave the other day. It is still hard to picture you not here with us. I know you would not have wanted to be here and not be able to do all the things you had planned to do. I think of you everyday. A piece of me died that night with you. Your kids are doing good. Robbie is getting so tall and Cory is a wild mess. Miss you bro. Love you.
