I cannot pretend to imagine the intense pain that you all feel after the sensless loss of a terrific husband, father and brother-officer such as Michael. If I could bear any portion of your sorrow, I would. God bless you all! Michael for you; godspeed.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

God bless Officer Briggs and his family.

To the Briggs family and to Manchester PD, my deepest sympathies. It seems way too often that reflections need to be left. Officer Briggs, you are a hero indeed. Thank you for your faithful service and your great sacrifice to your state and to your country. You will never be forgotten!! To the officers who caught this low life muderer hiding out at grandma's house, many many thanks. To the low life murderer, vengeance is God's. I grew up next door in Maine. I have many great memories visiting New Hampshire as a kid. New Hampshire is a great state with some great heroes. You will heal. I will be praying for the Briggs family and for the family at MPD.

I never had the privilege of meeting or knowing Mike, but as a former Marine and current police officer myself, I feel I can attest to his character. I know the committment it takes to achieve both these titles. Mike was a member of not one but two very special fraternities; The US Marine Corps, and public law enforcement (Manchester, NH chapter). On behalf of Mike's extended family here in Michigan, I wish to express our deepest sympathies to Mike's family, friends, and coworkers at the Manchester PD. I would like to leave all of you with this thought:
When I graduated from boot camp my drill instructor told us "there will be wars and Marines will die, but as a Marine you will live forever in the name of the corps". Mike is not truly gone, whenever you hear the Marine Corps hymn or see an MPD patrol car cruise by on patrol, HE'S THERE.
God speed brother & Semper Fi!!

To Officer Briggs family-
I am so sorry for your loss and the pain that you must be going through. In my mind, to be an officer requires great courage and stength and after all the readings and news, Officer Briggs had both qualities. Maybe some day we can all imagine a world with no hate and no crime. Until that day comes, remember the fallen hero and strive to live in peace. May God Bless all who loved him.
