I chose to retire to Lake county because it is a great place to live. One of the pluses was to have a sheriff of the caliber of Sheriff Daniels. We have lost a warrior agaisnt evil. He will now watch over us from the Kingdom of God. God bless Sheriff Daniels, his family and the members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

From the first day that I started at the Sheriff's Office you taught me so much. Telling me about how you started out in dispatch as I had. Encouraging me, I looked up to you, inspired by you! During Feb. 9th 2005 You showed us all what a wonderful leader you truly were and that you were going to be. No one will be able to fill your shoes, they are just too big. Your family is in my prayers. Rest in peace, you will never be forgotten!

To Michelle, family, and friends;
When a tragedy such as this strikes, there are no words that can soothe the pain of overwhelming grief you feel. I know your pain having lost my only child this past Christmas and then my nephew 8 short months later. Having such a great support system in our community will help you to begin the healing process. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to have known and worked with such a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Thank you Chris........rest in peace.........until we meet again.

Sheriff,
I have so many things to say to you. I keep waiting to see you walk through our doors and say "Hey there, how are you and Michael, how is he doing?" You had so many great things planned for us. God knew what he was doing when he sent you to us. The citizens of Lake County and the members of our office could never repay you for all the great things you have done.

I sit here everyday since you were taken and look at these beautiful flowers and only wish you could see them and know how many lives you have touched. We will be forever changed because of you great work.

You were an awesome boss and an awesome Sheriff. We will be able to accomplish great things because you were our leader.

God Bless you and your family. We love you and miss you alot.

R.I.P Sheriff Daniels

I approach the vehicle, as bluelights bounce around me,
It's not a matter of like and hate, it's the violation I saw.
As I get closer, the danger I do not see,
I'm thinking of enforcing the law.

I hear the shot, and feel the pain,
As I drop to the ground
The car speeds off driven by a man who has to be insane,
As I finally into my radio, mumble,"Officer Down!"

As I lay there, I thought of my wife,
I see the dreams we had made.
I ask the Lord to please spare my life,
Then I felt myself begin to fade.

I stopped him only for speeding,
Then I heard a sweet voice on my ear.
"Come with me son, to Heaven I am leading.
No more will you have to shed a tear."

I opened my eyes to see my Savior,
He said, "Follow me, my son.
He will pay for his behavior,
For you have performed a job well done!"

Tomorrow will be such a hard day for all of Lake County and Law Enforcement everywhere. I know that in my heart you will have your hand on our shoulders as we all say goodbye, you will be with us in the sun light and in the clouds in the sky but most importantly you will be with Michelle, Taylor, Lindsey, Chris Jr. and Ashley and leading them through the day. This I know and believe!

As a former paramedic with the Lake Sumter EMS and have worked with many of the deputies of Lake County I am truly sorry for your loss. My very best friend is one of your deputies in Lake County and when he told me the news I was deeply saddened, seeing that Sheriff Daniels has moved the dept in a positive direction. May he rest in peace and to all Law Enforcement officers "let's be careful out there"

Chris,
I've started this letter many times, and I am still having some difficulty coming up with the right words to express just how much you meant to our family. Just last year, our perfect little corner of the earth shattered and became a nightmare when Wayne was taken from us. I cannot tell you how many times I've thought about that first week after he was gone, how much you did for us and how many times I've said how thankful I was to be able to call the Lake County Sheriffs Office my home and the employees there, my family.
You had only been the Sheriff for a month that horrible day but you stepped into many, many roles. You had a manhunt to organize, a community to protect, and a devastated family in need of consoling. You filled all of those roles to perfection. You know, I started this letter many times with Sheriff written at the top instead of Chris. While you had my upmost respect as the Sheriff of Lake County, you became Chris, the moment Wayne died. You preferred it that way. Every time you called me on the phone, it was Chris. Every time you sent me a letter, it was always signed Chris. Each time you escorted me and my family to an awards ceremony for Wayne or to a Charity fundraiser, it was Chris. Its very hard to imagine, as with Wayne, that you are no longer with us.
It was very ironic that this past saturday afternoon, Jonell and I were talking with a friend about what happened to Wayne last year. We were looking over photos and came across the one of you speaking at Wayne's funeral. You had tears in your eyes when you talked about the thin blue line. Jonell had said that photo always touched her. Neither one of us knew that you would be taken away from your family that night. My heart breaks for your family, for we know all too well how much they are hurting. Please know that if there is anything Michele, Penny or the children need, we are only a phone call away. I close for now by saying thank you again for the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for all the love, support and dedication you gave to our family all these months since Wayne's death. You will be deeply, deeply missed by all who knew you and will Never be forgotten.

My Lcso Family,
It has been another hard loss for all of you. I love and miss you guys very much and I am so proud of how you pulled together after the loss of Wayne. You dedication to this community and to each other is inspiring. Thank you for all that you have done for our family and our community. Remember, the bond you have with each other is not only your strength but your support line as well. I wrote on Wayne's page about how much love and support we received from all of you, so if you didnt get a chance to hear it, I'll say it again. Thank you. Thank you for all that you have done from us. From the Funeral to the Memorials. From the daily calls to see how our family was doing, to the cherished support you gave us at the trial. You are all gifts from God himself and we are lucky to be able to call you our family.
