I was working Saturday night when my Commander called an emergency meeting to break this tragic news to us. We always try to prepare ourselves for the worst these mean streets have to offer - to maintain the "warrior mentality". Seldom do we stop to think of the hazards we face daily, in situations we wouldn't normally consider perilous.

My heartfelt condolences to the Daniels family, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, and every citizen who benefitted from the good this man dedicated his life to. Rest in peace, brother Daniels...we have the watch from here.

Michelle, Family, Friends and Close Collegaues of Sheriff Daniels:

You have all heard of the many great things that the citizens of Lake County have been saying, writting and expressing in many ways and you should know in your heart that it is all being said with great love and admiration. These things would have been said to him, dead or alive, and that makes a big difference. These are true words of greatfulness. I believe that the good Lord has another great challenge for Sheriff Daniels, who as we all know, would never turn down a challenge. He has made a great impact on this area and was a mentor to a lot of people. For that he will never be forgotten. I pray that in the coming weeks you all realize that you are in every prayer being prayed. The grief will not get any easier, you will never forget and many tears will be shed. But know that God is with you every step of the way. God has a plan already made up and nothing will change that. God has a purpose for everything. Through teary eyes I write that the Lake County Sheriff's Office now has 4 of the best angels ever watching over us.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

May you rest in peace, Blue Angel! You will forever be in our lives. I know that your watch will never end!

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Sheriff Daniels, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest
