Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

Robbie, about a year and a half ago I used this web-site to research information for Unit #2. I never, ever thought I would be visiting this site to view a tribute to you. It just breaks my heart! I enjoyed working with you and will miss you. You were an excellent, enthusiastic and steadfast police officer. Absolutely admirable-this is the perfect kind. I am clinging to God’s promise that; “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds”, Psalms 147:3. It is my sincere prayer that God will wrap your beautiful family, friends and our office in His comforting arms and tend to our broken hearts and bind up our gaping wounds.

I had not known Robbie very long, not nearly as long as any of us would have liked. Though, it didn't take very long to know that Robbie was a person that could be counted on, someone I could count as a friend. Coming home late from work or with friends, I almost always stop for a cup of coffee. Every time I saw Robbie, he greeted me with a smile and a joke. No matter what mood I was in or how tired I was, Robbie could make me smile. He always tried to affect people in a positive way and make a difference for the better. I will never be able to put into words what a wonderful person he was but I will honor him to the best of my abilities. I think the best way to honor our friend is to try to be a little more like him. Let's all try to make a difference, let's all greet each other with a smile.

Robbie, Words alone can't do justice in what you meant as a co-worker, a brother in law enforcement and especially a friend. Your dedication to your family, job and the Special Response Team was immeasurable. I thank God, Karen and Chaytor, for sharing a part of your life with me. We have known each other for over 16 years. Our relationship started as members of Powhatan Volunteer Fire Department (me at Huguenot and you at Fine Creek). Both of us entered the US ARMY right out of high school, and again another similarity, both of us became police officers in 1999. You were a brother to me, just as you were to many others. I recently was reassigned to Powhatan county, and you were quick to welcome me back home. At the beginning of this year I was assigned to midnight shift, and you became one of my shift partners. I have been truly blessed to have known you and have you as a friend. May God bless you and your family. Good luck with your new beat as you patrol the streets of heaven.....

When Greg and Adam came to the house the other night, I knew without a word being spoken that you had left us. Our heart is so broken and it has been rough for all of us. You would have been so proud of all of the people that you have touched in your life. Adam did a great job Sunday as he talked to thousands of people that came to celebrate your life. Greg and Wayne Holland planned a service that was fit for a king. Robbie we all miss you and I know that we will for the rest of our lives here on earth. Son your mother and I are so proud of the life that you lived, and that you knew the God that you are with now. As the song writer wrote "Its not what you take with you, but what you leave behind. You have left behind so many friends that have looked up to you as a role model for many to follow.
You have left behind a lovely wife and beautiful son to carry on your name. You have left behind two brothers that loved you so much and a father in law and mother in law that are hurting as we are. Thank you Robbie for being the blessing that God let us hold for only a few years. We love you and "Unit 27" as you made your final call on earth we know that you are still in service as you watch over the ones that love you. Between Roy, Charlie Jr. Jason, Richard, Josh and myself Karen and Chaytor will always have one of us to watch over them.

I remembered seeing Robbie in school and he always had a smile on his face. He seemed to be full of joy all the time. He chose an honorable career and I would like to thank him for his service to us. Deputy Robbie Green is my Son-in-law. Everything stated on this page by people who know Robbie is exactly on target.
He is a man of few words whose actions throughout his life will fill volumes. His love for my daughter and grandson is something very special to behold. Robbie is no longer with us, but Karen and Chaytor are. My entire family loves Robbie. His loss is staggering.

I've known you since you were born and I always knew that you were very special, although I never liked the idea of you being a police officer, being at your funeral yesterday I understand why that it what you had to do. You Charlie and Jason are the brothers I never had and no words can describe how much you will be missed!!!! I know Grandma and my dad are with you and that makes me feel somewhat better. You were so good with kids, Jessica and Alex consider you their "hero" but then again we all do! Don't worry about Chaytor he will be loved and taken care of and we will let him know what a SPECIAL FATHER he had!! We will take care of your mom,dad and the rest of your family too.
It will be hard but we know we will be with you again. Until then I love you!
