Que golpe el toparme con estas lamentables noticias por pura coincidencia. Yo servi en la Policia Municipal de Carolina en el 1991. Llevo desde el 2001 en el estado de la Florida. Tuve el privilegio de trabajar en varias ocaciones con el Policia Canales. Si algo bien recuerdo es que mostraba ser un hombre recto, responsable y dedicado a su trabajo , AUN con ciertos "contratiempos o obstaculos" que le fueron colocados. Si me entero de el fallecimiento de un companero es triste, muy triste, sin embargo, es muy alentador saber que no fue en vano y por supuesto considerando que en estos tiempos que vivimos puede haber casos aislados de "corrupcion", prefiero enterarme que un companero esta "durmiendo" en la muerte porque se FAJO en el cumplimiento del deber. Entiendo que la Biblia es la maxima Autoridad para nosotros los seres Humanos dado que es la palabra inspirada de Dios. La misma me ha ayudado a aprender mucho. Que gran muestra de amor la de Canales, el haber dado su vida para que otros vivan. Que horrendos dias estamos viviendo (2 Timoteo 3:1-5). Pero la Biblia da esperanzas! por ejemplo (Salmos 37:10,11). La Biblia me consuela al saber tambien que no es "adios para siempre" sino potencialmente "Hasta luego!!" porque ?? Porque la Biblia promete que pronto Habra una resureccion en (Juan 5:28). Soy Testigo de Jehova y las Buenas Noticias de la Biblia son extensas y las Bendiciones por conocerlas mas todavia. Que Jehova los Bendiga. Tengo esperanza de ver a Jose Canales de Nuevo muy pronto, solo que en ese entonces, en este mundo no habra necesidad de Policias porque la maldad se habra exterminado!

God bless you Officer Raul C.Mundo. I know how his family feels, so I have lost my son too, Officer Eddie Mundo Jr. April 16, 2003 La Grange PD. in Kentucky. Both of you have been a great exsample to all police Officer around this nation who carry on the Mundo name.

Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here. That "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find comfort as we give comfort to the families who have lost a loved one.

As we say in Hawaii, “We are`Ohana.” We are family. God Bless this fallen hero. May we embrace him as one of our own family member; our `Ohana. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace.

I remember when I came back on the force after serving in the Navy you were the number one Bike Cop; not only on the streets but inside the police station also. You were always willing to help in and out of uniform. That williness was never diminished even after I made Sergeant you always demostrated your support in any situation we were involved in. You could never have imagine the long list of people you influence throughout your career. I know you are probably patrolling your new beat, keeping an eye on us.
