I have been sitting here at home reading the reflections on this web site that are for you. It has brought back a flood of memories from just a few years back when TFC Lumley #799 lost he's live. I witnessed first hand the pain that the Lumley family endured and the Georgia State Patrol endured. Corporal, that pain is once felt again. As I sat here reading I began to cry, not for you but for your family. I hope your family will remember what you stood for (Trust, Fortiude, Compassion and Professionalism). These are the words that you, I and the Patrol live by. May your family remember those words and smile with pride because that is what you stood for and always will. Mathew 5:9, Romans 13

I strongly believe in the Lord's will, but sometimes it is hard not to question it... as in this case. I imagine there was great need in Heaven for the Lord to call Cpl. Young (Mike)home.

Mike was a model law enforcement officer and truely a great person to know and be around. Mike was genuine, a rarity these days. Mike had a unique way to make you smile without even saying a word to you, and let us not forget his laugh. He sure could bring a crowd together. Mike was gentle and kind to all who knew him.

As a young law enforcement officer just starting out many years ago, I remember Mike being there to lend his guidance, and providing insight and technical expertise withhout expectation of anything in return. He would even stay out late to assist in anyway possible, and did a great many of times. That was just the kind of person he was.

I'll miss you M.D. You were, by far, one of the best. It deeply saddens me to see you go, but I know one day we'll reunite and run the streets of Heaven together as we once did here.

I pray for your family for strength, and what a wonderful family you have. I know your family knows how much you were loved in the law enforcement community. I pray for your co-workers with GSP, I know they are hurting. They too, along with your family, were by your side every step of the way while hospitalized. They were awesome!

Take care brother. I'll miss you GSP 674 !!!

Cpl. Young not sure if I had met you or not during the week that we lost my brother Trooper Tony Lumley (799). You do look familiar, however I am saddened to hear of your families loss and they will have very trying times ahead, but my family and myself are living proof you can survive though it is not an easy task, takes lots of time.
I applaud you for your bravery and service to help keep this state and country safe and though you are gone I can assure you that you will never be forgotten. You have made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us, now God be with you and your family.

I just want to say to your family, that even though the days and months will be difficult hold your heads high and honor your loved one and be proud of him, we all are very proud of him. Should you need anything (Believe me I know you've been asked that a million times) just give us a call or e-mail and we will do all we can. We all definetly have ya'll in our thoughts and prayers.

HIS JOURNEY'S JUST BEGUN

DON'T THINK OF HIM AS GONE AWAY
HIS JOURNEY'S JUST BEGUN,
LIFE HOLDS SO MANY FACETS---
THIS EARTH IS ONLY ONE.
JUST THINK OF HIM AS RESTING
FROM THE SORROWS AND THE TEARS
IN A PLACE OF WARMTH AND COMFORT
WHERE THERE ARE NO DAYS AND YEARS.
THINK HOW HE MUST BE WISHING
THAT WE COULD KNOW TODAY
HOW NOTHING BUT OUR SADNESS
CAN REALLY PASS AWAY.
AND THINK OF HIM AS LIVING
IN THE HEARTS OF THOSE HE TOUCHED.....
FOR NOTHING LOVED IS EVER LOST
AND HE WAS LOVED SO MUCH.

Mike was a wonderful person and was very proud to be a
trooper. Working with him over the years on special
details was a pleasure. He always had a smile on his face and he always made you feel good when you were around him.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. The Georgia State Patrol has lost one of the finest men I know.
His memory will remain with us forever in our hearts and minds.
