My prayers go out to Gary's family, friends and colleagues. Gary and I went to grade school, high school and college together and I can tell you he was always the steadiest of friends. He was kind, good and always looking out for others, something that obviously stuck with him all these years.

As a kid, Gary was the big guy, stronger than most of us and always a good athelete. But Gary was the big guy who wasn't afraid to pick a little guy to be on his team, friendship was more important than your atheletic abilities. He was the guy who led the fast break and then dished off to someone else to let them take the shot. He was the guy who played for the joy of the game and to prove just how good he could be.

Your friends everywhere will miss you Gary, but your legacy of kindness, support and friendship live on. God bless!

My great friend. I cried all day when I was given the news. I cry now as I leave this reflection. You were true to heart, and true in spirit. You had a wonderful sense of humor. In the time that I met you, I became a better man, husband, father, and police officer because of my association, and friendship with you. You were truely my brother in every sense of the word. You are my hero. Those times on the bicycle from Indy to DC, and aound this great State will never be forgotten. The lessons that you taught are ever lasting. Such a tragic loss to your wonderful wife, Carolyn. Such a tragic loss for us all. You and Chief Martin are in a much better place. Know that the Law Enforcement family that you left behind is vast. We will care for your family. We will continue your work. You will never be far from my thoughts. You will never be forgotten. My family loves you. We love Carolyn. You were there for us all. The Indiana State Police has lost an irreplaceable Trooper, Commander, and above all else, a great person. Lt. Dudley was caring, loyal, and passionate about what he believed in. He was the standard in which all troopers should strive to become. I will always remember his parting remarks of "Stay Alert, Stay Alive!" to all of the recruits as we departed for our weekend liberties. May God bless the Dudley family. You will be in my prayers. To Lt.Dudley's family and friends,

I know I don't need to tell you how special of a man Gary was. He was a great example of what the Lord meant when he told us to love one another. His devotion to the people of Indiana and families of officers who died is unmeasurable. He was a true professional when he instructed us at the academy. I could tell that he was concerned about our training and especially us. I am deeply saddened by his passing and am praying for all of you. Blessed are those who are peacekeepers. He will never be forgotten in my heart.

Lt. Dudley, you will be sadley missed. One, as a molder of men in your role at the academy and two, as my friend.
When it came to PT you gave new meaning to "lets do a few". Future charity rides will be lonely despite hundreds of people being around. You defined what it means to be a professional and a loyal friend. I am sadened that you were called home and I am better off for having known you. Thank you for your example and your friendship.
