Reflections for Police Officer Scott Alan Wertz

I just want to say that I am praying extra hard for Scott's wife and children. This is a true tragedy when those fighting to protect us are gunned down and killed.

Scotty, Well he was a really good friend to all of us on the 200 block of Carpenter Street. We all had a ball every summer playing baskest ball very chance he got when he was not working and not helping his grandparents out. I watched him go from car to car exp: camaro gt 5.0 to the eclipse and the famous licencse plate MACDADDY which was true before he meet his wife. Well you will be very missed. Our Hert goes out to Mrs. Wertz!!!

Officer Wertz,

I did not know you or your family yet when I sit here and read all of the wonderful messages left for you and your family, it makes me feel as if I did know you. In every picture that I have seen of you on the news, you had a smile on your face. A close friend of mine knew you well, before you became an officer and his heart is breaking now. You were an amazing man who went above and beyond the call of duty to protect the citizens of Reading, PA and THAT WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I have no doubt that your boys will grow up knowing their father was a hero who touched so many, many lives in his passing. God bless you and your entire family-you will all be in my thoughts and prayers for a long time to come.

Scotty, It's so hard to realize that the time we spent together in court last week was the last time that I would see that smile of yours and experience your quick wit and sense of humor. But those are the things that I will always remember about you. I will never forget the example you set on what it means to be not only an excellent police officer but just an amazing person. I never saw you give less than 100% in anything you did. Thank you for your service, your guidance and your friendship.

To the Wertz family, words cannot express the sorrow I feel for you at this time. Just know that all of Scott's brothers and sisters in law enforcement always be there for you, no matter what.

Scotty, I know that you and Mike will look down on us and protect us all as we carry on. I will miss you and always remember you until the day that we meet again.

I was your boys' playground leader for the past few summers. They are really great kids; the kind that make any father proud. Your wife and boys should know that this community is grieving with them, and will forever be there for them. As time passes, and the communal grief BEGINS to subside, the sacrifice you made will never be overlooked, never be trivialized, and NEVER be forgotten. God bless you.

Words can never describe what a husband means to his Wife. He is our knight in shining armor for all the reasons only they share. He is that smile that you know is there at the end of a hard day. He is the stars that shine brightly in her eyes. For even though he is gone, those stars will never fade. For they shine ever brighter because he is now among them. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your children. Having been where you are now only a short time ago, I hold dear to me all the precious moments we have shared, and I thank God for allowing me to share those moments with him.

For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you

You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
